zipfan maybe
Looks like only team in NCAA is OU... not even Miami or Buffalo... Maybe Miami and Buffalo in NIT?
2005PANTHER
I was hoping Buffalo was going to win the MAC. I don't think they've won anything like that in any sport there. I would assume they would go to the NIT. Dick Vitale even said the MAC is one of the most underrated conferences. Must agree there.
Hugh Cregg
The MAC is no where as a basketball league and today's bracket proves it. If the MAC failes to get 4 teams in the NIT it should just cease operation. Akron would be better off in the MVC.
Z-Pouch
Western Michigan in the NIT Playing Marquette. Miami and Buffalo sure to follow. Miami looks to be in and playing Depaul. Rumor also has Can't in the NIT. Looks like a total of 4 MAC teams
Hugh Cregg
The WMU story was out last night... Nothing new on the Miami, Buffalo or Can't State sites, nor on GoZips.com. It looks like Akron is going to be the last tea,m left out of both the football and basketball postseasons... how f$%^& pathetic is that. Akron Athletics has no juice at all if this type of crap keeps happening.

zipsbandman
Akron wins versus WMU, and Akron gets a bid. Nothing fancy there. Man, this really blows, though. Has anyone noticed the trend? Toledo, Miami, BG, Marshall, and NIU all go Bowling. Can't, Miami, Buffalo, WMU, OU, all see postseason bball. That's nine different MAC teams seeing postseason play and we, of course, are one of the four sitting at home. Buffalo has a horrible football team, yet they are really good in basketball. OU's football season was badenough to get their coach fired, but then they win the MAC tournament in bball. NIU is less than stellar in hoops, yet their football team is bowl caliber. We, on the other hand, do well enough in each sport only to get our hopes up so they could get dashed when we play meaningful games. Does anyone think that that might be the reason that people don't come to games? I'll just blame it on Can't because I feel like it.
Kangaroo Craig
Its frustrating, but I do not believe it is the reason why people don't come to games. Attendance is up this year in both football and basketball due to the mild success. The problem that both Akron and Can't have with attendence is that the average fan (ie: Fan without a college degree) roots for Ohio State and unfortunately many MAC school grads also root for that pile of shit down south. This school just needs to keep making positive steps forward. If that happens, the rest will take care of itself.
Big Zip
NIT give a home game to San Francisco. A school that finished 16-13 with a losing record in their conference 6-8. What got them in you ask -- 2 big wins one against Gonzaga and one against Pacific. The same thing that got San Fran in kept us out -- games against Mount Union instead of someone who would look good on our record. We had this conversation earlier -- the OOC schedule this year was terrible. I hope it's better next year.
