Roo Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 He is leaving Michigan and I heard he is rumored to be looking at some MAC Schools. I know we have a couple people on the board that are pretty close to the program, any chance Akron in the play for him?He is from Michigan so I figure CMU would probably be the leaders in the MAC...but just throwing it out there.. We have better on our roster. The only reason he played last year is because of Mallet transfering after DickRod took over and because they couldn't get any freshman to come there. Quote

ZachTheZip Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 He's a 1-AA kid. I don't want him coming here. We already will be having a 3-way QB battle (sound familiar?) and having some guy come in here thinking he's all that because he played for a 3-9 BCS team is a waste of a scholarship. Quote

He got offers from six BCS schools, Miami, and CMU. I'm not saying we should take him, but is he really only worthy of FCS(or was that sarcasm)? Quote
ZachTheZip Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Whatever he was in high school, he's 1-AA now. That's where he's going. Quote

I mean, all we can get are 2-star QBs, why take a guy who was highly touted? You're right, that makes no sense....He is only good for DIAA, lol...  Quote

Second of all Partick Nicely, Jordan Miller, and Matt Rodgers were all rated as three-star QBs and nationally ranked. This guy led Michigan to their worst season in school history and doesn't think he can make the starting job next year on a 3-9 team. He didn't exactly fit the system RichRod runs up there, is there something wrong with that? We had a very successful transfer from Pitt, who wasn't a world beater at that time and he couldn't sniff the field. That turned out pretty well for us.You act like this kid used to bully you when you were a kid....what gives? Jacq hasn't exactly set the world on fire and Threet wasn't horrible. He did ok, for his first year as a starting QB and against a very tough schedule? Imagine if he got to play the MAC every week, I think his stats would look much different. Quote

Imagine if he got to play the MAC every week, I think his stats would look much different.Well, let's take a look at his stats in the one and only game he HAS played against a little old MAC team, one that also was a pretty week defensive unit.Link7 of 11 for 55 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT......hmmm only so-so. I know it was only one game, but every time I watched this guy play last year I was totally unimpressed. True his line didn't give him much time, but even when they did he rarely took advantage. He may play better wherever he winds up (he could hardly do worse) but he's not as good as Jacq at this point.....no way. It's just my opinion of course.Jacq was 16-23 for 226 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT against this same defense, BTW. Quote

Not even Walt Harris is going to change that fact. The kid wouldn't start at 95% of 1-A schools. I for one will welcome any former 4 star QB prospect without personal issues into our program and I'd love to see what Walt could do with the talent. Plus, Jaq's a senior anyways (thank God) so the two would never even compete for a job. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 The fact of the matter is that we don't have room for another QB. Has everybody blocked out the 2007 season from their memories (I can't really blame you if you did)? We all saw what happens when you have a bunch of QBs with no experience all trying to get the starting job: everybody who doesn't win the spot transfers out.Unless one of our three underclassman QBs transfers, we have absolutely no need for another one to come in unless they're guaranteed to get the starting job the minute they set foot on campus because they're miles ahead of the competition. Threet is not at that level. Quote
you am i Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Usually a player who tranfers from a Div I school can play the following year if he goes to a Div 2 school, but because Threet has already transferred once (from Georgia Tech to Michigan) he will have to sit out a year no matter where he goes, even to a Div 2 school. So he will most likely end up in Div 1.BTW, his transfer from GT was due to the firing of the coaches who were responsible for his recruiting and not because of his play. Quote
