lance99 Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Their dancing now!The question is now what? The selection show is today (6pm). Seeding will be important, but location is critical. For some strange reason no respect will be given and will be placed in Portland, OR for round one .any thoughts? Quote
Zips fan Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Funny you should mention Portland, OR. ESPN had Buffalo facing UCLA in Portland for the first round. I think the Zips are going to step into that 13th spot out west. I would be shocked if the tournament gave the Zips a game withing 1000 miles of Akron. Quote
Zips fan Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 If the Zips get a 13th seed, the options are Portland, Portland, Boise, and Miami. Quote

w00t Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Akron could be sent to any of the eight opening weekend sites... except Dayton. The selection committee (by design) doesn't give the lowest seeded teams anything that could closely resemble a home game in the opening rounds. I would also rule out Greensboro as Duke and UNC will be playing there and will both have either a 1 or a 2 seed which means that it will be 1/16, 8/9 and/or 2/15, 7/10 matchups there. That leaves Philadelphia, Boise, Portland, Kansas City, Minneapolis, or Miami. I don't know about any of you, but it wouldn't break my heart to get sent to Miami. Quote
MDZip Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Philadelphia and Miami could only occur with a 14 seed. Even if we got as high as a 12, the options are still all of the same. If we dropped as low as a 15 (man I hope not), then other sites are possible. By the way, even before last night's game, our RPI was higher than Buffalo's, we were 111, Buffalo 116, so if Buffalo was slotted as a 13 seed, I don't see why it would be any different for us. Quote

w00t Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Bracketology was just updated, Joe Lunardi now has us a 13 playing Purdue in Portland, OR. That seems like a very favorable matchup to me. Quote

w00t Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 I would rule out KC as a destination now too as Memphis and Oklahoma are almost certain to head there making it another 1/16, 8/9 and 2/15, 7/10 host. Quote
