ksu sucks
http://www.recordpub.com/news/article/4665611The University of Akron also expects an increase this fall. Officials there told the Akron Beacon Journal in August enrollment could surge to nearly 7 percent with as many as 27,000 students. Even if it reached that peak, Can't State would still lead Akron with nearly 11,000 more students and 22,370 at the Can't campus alone.Wow! 10% growth really? 11,000 more students?! They mentioned that Akron had a growth of 7% this year, and that we have 11,000 less students. Good point. Too bad UA's main campus has 27,000 students as opposed to the 22,000 at Can't. Just because UA doesn't create some meaningless allusion of selectivity by creating ten other community colleges(that's essentially what the Can't branch campuses are). On the flip side, at Bowling Green State University, which is lead by former Can't State president Carol Cartwright, enrollment has dropped for the third year in a row. BGSU enrollment fell 2.3 percent this fall to 19,768 students. And the University of Toledo reported a 3.3 percent enrollment increase.Ouch @ BG. And that's their enrollment at the main campus and all of their little community colleges combined. What's going on in BG?I'd love to see what the % growth was at Can't's main campus(did they set a cap on students yet?). I'd venture to guess Akron brought home the highest main campus increase in Ohio this fall.

ksu sucks
Now if someone can just come up with a positive correlation between quantity and quality. From what I understand, quantitiy and quality are going to have a direct relationship at Akron. That is, assuming people on this board are correctly informed about goals of open enrollment.

zip-O-matic
This fall’s freshman class has 3,994 registered students, Jarvie said. And the quality of the freshman class is high, as their mean composite ACT score is 22.18Does anyone know how Akron's number relates? Considering that the Columbus paper just reported that osu's average ACT passed 28, I don't think that Cant's number is exactly earth shattering and certainly not something that Akron shouldn't be able to match. While we do have open enrollment (which I support) our engineering and science departments should be pulling in a substantial amount of high achieving high freshmen to balance out the numbers.
