tim123 Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 Correct if I'm wrong but isn't Rodgers in his third year here. That was one of the worst exhibitions of QB play at the D-1 level I have ever witnessed. We should have pulled him in the third quarter. I'm sure the coach said after the game that our goals are still attainable. Let me tell the coach not with that QB. Special teams play was a wash. The defense was gased because they had to stay out there all day. I think JD keeps his job no matter what because he can say my starter was gone do to being an idiot. Bring on the Chippewas and hopefully we can right the ship. Go Zips! Quote
GP1 Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 Rodgers was worse than terrible today. However, let's see how he can do when they can game plan with him being the starting QB.If he plays like he did today the remainder of the season, the Zips won't win more than three games. If CJ isn't coming back, it's completely Rodgers team. There is no "let's see what someone else can do". From what people in the know like Mike Rasor tell us, Rodgers is a great QB and should play. (sidebar: Rasor is also the guy who said Charlie Frye was a better QB than DA the year DA went to the Pro Bowl). Let's see if they are correct.Insert fool proof GP1 Browns logic at this point. Quote

To get over the .500 mark (though I find it unlikely Wistershire will make any change if improvement (i.e. 6-6) is shown) the team must win all their home games and win two of four road games -- vs CMU, SU, NIU and BG. Yes, the MAC East is wide open. But does anyone care? Quote
Dave in Green Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 No QB looks good if the guys in front of him can't control the line of scrimmage. When a QB is flattened by one of his own blockers being tossed into him by the defense, you know there's a big problem in the trenches. Quote
Phootss Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 Today was painful to be a Zips fan. The gameplan was obviously set up for CJ. Rodgers didn't look comfortable sitting back in the pocket. He made some poor decisions and it cost the Zips. It seemed that the offense kept running the same 4 plays all day. Giving Indiana some credit they have a lot of seniors on defense and as a unit they are as good as any the Zips will see the rest of the year. Our defense played off their recievers and Indiana took advantage all day long.Hopefully we can regroup and play better against CMU next Saturday. Quote
zestycoyote Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 The gameplan was definitely made for Jaq. They never called any designed QB runs which Rodgers would excel at. There were a couple times when he stepped into the pocket and delivered a great pass, but those were few and far between. I think the game could have been a lot different had he run a little more, rather than trying to stand in the pocket like Jaq. It's not his style of play. He needed to add his own flavor to the offense. Quote
cornbread Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 Its not that he made some bad decisions, its that he neglected to make any decisions at all. Every single time he would drop back, he would jitter around, then dump it off to a back. After a few of those, he would build up the confidence to force the ball over the middle, into the waiting arms of a Hoo Hoo Hoosier. I was pulling for this guy since the spring game. I am hoping that another week with the starter mentality will be a cure all. He played like a heady kid whenever he was inserted into the offence. He needs to turn it around. This offence needs to air it out. Quote
