psc2009
It's going to be a real tough game for Akron on Saturday. The pundits don't like the Zips right now, but this is the MAC and anything can happen. Why can't Rodgers run for 300 yards and throw for another 300? Maybe LeFevour plays like he did against Arizona?http://themacdaily.com/index.php?p=1_107
ZachTheZip
CMU is one of the few MAC teams that hasn't has a major player go down yet. Karma might be catching up with them.
MDZip
From that article:The Zips played from behind the entire game, giving up a touchdown on the opening kickoff to the Hoosiers. Akron battled back to close within 17-14 at halftime.Actually, we did have a short lived lead, 14-10, after the blocked punt, not that it ended up to matter all that much. ZachTheZip
http://www.mlive.com/chippewas/index.ssf/2...ms_for_100.htmlAccording to this link, JD's strategy for the game is "run the ball for 3.5 yards a carry and never give it back to him. He can beat you in so many different ways with so many weapons. You want to limit him, but you also need to score. Teams that beat Central score points."Run the ball for 3.5ypc all game?! That's your strategy, JD? If so, then you can kiss your job goodbye.

Beat down CMU and keep their QB off the field.

We're averaging less than 3ypc and the offensive line looks like a sieve.

I lived through the Dennison years and believe me, handing off to James black 44 times is not an enjoyable thing to see.If it gets a win, I'll buy it.We have too much RB talent to not be getting 3.5-4 ypc. If opposing defenses start getting hit by our backs for that many yards, it's really going to open up our offensive options. I'm not saying be boring and run Allen behind Tuzze off center every play (though doing it more than 1-2 times a game might help ). I'm saying open up the running playbook and get smart with it. A steady run game, that can consistently get that many yards every down, combined with the passing/receiving talent we have will get big plays and big wins. ZachTheZip
I'm hoping to see a few personnel changes, like Devoe starting at RB and Andre Jones moving back to WR. We need somebody with big play making abilities to compliment Bowser.

I hope he impresses us all tomorrow. GO ZIPS!!

OldZipFan
The only way the Zips will beat CM, will be if they have a letdown, after an emotional win against Michigan State.
Zipsrifle
How does the CMU D-Line compare to Penn State and Indiana? I have to believe we have some improvement in our ability to run the ball since Morgan State, but how much? What I'm getting at is we had a hard time running the ball against Morgan State, why would we be successful running it against CMU. If they stack up well when compared to Indiana, then I think this is a bad game plan.I agree with whoever said we give Rogers some quick, short passes. Bowser is such a talent, let him burn some people. Bruce almost filled our posession receiver needs last year, should we give him that roll this year? I also hope to see a few, not a lot of plays geared for Rogers. He seems pretty good at making each handoff look like a keeper, so I think we could burn them once or twice on this. Special teams has GOT go come up big in this game. I am a firm believer in starting field position being key. We've got to pin them deep as much as possible. And, hey -- wasn't I a JD supporter last week? What the... If they continue to give Allen the type plays that he isn't capable of gaining yards on, and keep Torrence on the bench, it will be a sign that the coaches have thrown in the towel! When's the next soccer game? RACER
some people think im crazy for posting this ,but i do think akron can win this game.cmu has a great offense, but they have a terrible defense.we will have to take care of the ball, and no stupid penalties though.we are coming off a week were got blown out.they came off a easy week with a win over a 1-aa team.if akron has any heart they will go up to mount pleasant, and win this thing.if not then it's another nail in jd's coffin.i still thing think any mac team can beat any other mac team this year.central was 16-11 over the last two years.in the mac that's great.in a bcs leauge alott coaches would be on the hot seat.i just think the standards for football have fallen so low that a team a few games over .500 is considered a powerhouse? GO AKRON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Andre Jones should at least be returning kickoffs, then he could rest while we are on offense (4 plays) and then be rested enough to play defense again. To not have him on any special teams is a shame.
