MDZip
Not meant to be a shot at this team because clearly it's a bunch of guys playing because they love it, but aren't club sports usually established at schools where there is no varsity team for that sport? RootforRoo44
Not meant to be a shot at this team because clearly it's a bunch of guys playing because they love it, but aren't club sports usually established at schools where there is no varsity team for that sport? No offense taken, but if you check out ClubBaseball.org you will see that many if not most schools that have club teams actually have varsity teams as well. Schools like Akron that have a baseball rich area and many students willing to play have club teams as well. We have had 60 guys and 50 guys try out the last two years respectively so there is definitely much interest. We also give guys that transfer and are looking to walk on at Akron something to fall back on as we have six players that have transferred from D2/D3/NAIA baseball schools. Also if you recognize a few of the people in the pictures, we have guys that are finishing their degrees/going through grad school and have already played D1 baseball here or elsewhere. RootforRoo44
Where do you guys play? Our usual home field is Patterson park off of route 8 but due to work being done on it we are playing most of home games this fall at Erie Island Park off of 77 (copley road exit). jhbengals07
Allright Zips way to finish the season strong! I love how club baseball goes on way longer than the Varsity squad. I'd rather go to their games than the varsity squad. Probably could beat them. Of course softball is my favorite. I say we have a battle of the sexes softball rules like the Bandits did with an Illinois minor league baseball team. You guys should get to play on the varsity field when their season is over. Good luck next year! Love to see people play the game for fun!
