Watching '09, thinking '10....

Probably depends on when he would be fired, who is brought in and how long the process takes to get someone in there, and what kind of player they want. Hopefully the new guy could see the value of guys on this roster currently and not change it to a system that makes us start everything over again.
"System" stuff is totally overblown, especially as it relates to college football. PERHAPS you can say it about some QBs, but I think Nicely would actually be even more productive in a pro-set/I-formation offense. Yeah, we might have to find a FB or two. But it can be done.We need to bring in a coach that knows how to teach, knows how to coach (on gameday) and knows and how to WIN. Plain & simple. Well, maybe not simple.
Excellent post. There can be no more "building". There is enough talent on this team to win. They need to start winning. 20+ years of building is enough.I like what Pitt is doing right now. They are playing a physical brand of football in a pro-style offense and a tough run jamming defense. They are one of the best teams in what is the worst BCS league. We just aren't a physical team and if we were more physical, more game situations would go our way. Here is one of the many examples of why we are not physical and it is a very telling statistic. The Zips are -2 in fumbles against D-1A teams this year. When teams are physical and hit hard, they cause more fumbles for the other team than the other team creates for them.

It was interesting to see the Zips place a DL in the backfield in a "Jumbo Package" inside the Buffalo 5 yard line last week. Alex Allen went into the endzone with ease. That might have been the first "easy" TD we scored against D1 competition all year? Previously, you could expect to get stuffed for no gain in that situation.Bring out the Power-I with Torrence and Tuzze. We will move forward.
Outstanding observation. We all need to be more focused on what does work than what doesn't.

What im trying to say if perhaps JD does get booted, what will happen to our assistants? and also what will the guys coming in next year do? will they still be offered?
There will not be a coach remaining from JD's staff. That's the way it works. The team will have all new coaches next season.

We're going to finish the season 6-6 or 7-5. I'm calling it. You worry about the future, but I will remain with the team's mentality. I saw more fight in the players than I have all year. They will make or break this season, not the coaches, and I believe that they will come together and make something good happen.
I too have confidence now in this team. I think having a stable QB that actually has the talent to carry an offense will be a big boost. I'm calling 5-7/6-6 for the finish. I know winning 5 or 6 out of 7 games will be tough but i dont think it will be impossible.
I like it, that not all of us are ready to bury this team right away!!!Hindsight is 20/20 and I think monkeys can turn on computers these days!Scary thing is when they start posting almost like the evolution occurring on the honorable ZIPS NATION!!!
