I hear that there is this fantastic NFL coach, Mangenius or some such, who would be just great for the Zips starting next year.
I saw something about Jon Gruden the other day. Is he going to get another NFL HC opportunity? Would he settle for NFL assistant or would he rather HC a college team? I suppose the MAC $$ would be too much of a comedown for him..
Doubtful....he's from Dayton, as was Gerry Faust, and if there is one thing I've noticed since my time here, Akron football does not like anybody from Dayton. Hopefully, that was just a JD thing.

At least we have gotten beyond people saying that high school Coach X might be a good fit. Shows some maturity in the fan base.

I like the idea of a coordinator from a BCS/Top 10 program. Someone who is going to jump in right away and make a difference. In every aspect; talent, coaching, energy, hard work and discipline. I wouldnt even care if the guy was looking to come in and win and be out in 3 years. If he can quickly build the base of our program someone else can and will sustain it. I wouldnt mind having the next Brian Kelly. Central is still doing pretty well even after he left. Because the kids are confident in what they do and know it works. One big thing for me additionaly would be that the guy had NEO ties. Having some "ins" on recruiting will surely help. There is easily enough talent in Ohio alone to stock a MAC team.A coordinator coming from a BCS school is going to bring the assistants as his coordinatos. These guys will be young and fiery and give our program a shot of adrenaline.

You do realize that Kelly was never a coordinator for any FBS (1-A) school, let alone a BCS/Top 10 program.

Yeah I know.... By the Brian Kelly reference i just meant i dont necessarily think it would be bad to have a coach come in thinking he wants to win and move on. If he can build the program up to the point that were gonna win a mac championship and than he leaves. so be it.
