The men's side has only 48 teams (the women's tournament has 64 teams - that disparity has always seemed odd to me).

There are about 100 more women's teams than men's teams. Men's soccer doesn't have enough teams to support a 64-team tournament without it becoming severely diluted.

I remember that article. It's a complete travesty even for an opinion piece. It seriously appeared that she just threw darts at a board and whatever team it landed on she would put them in her top 10. Nevermind that Akron was #1 in the country in a few polls to start that year. That was nuts.
