NCAA Tournament Seeding

Recommended Posts

This the revenge tour - we can take out South Florida and then possibly finish off Northwestern in the regional final. Its not a bad draw there are a lot of other teams I'd be a lot more worried about and we avoid all ACC teams until the College Cup. This is the tournmament, we're going to face good teams every game.

Talk about a tough opening round game - Louisville vs. Indiana. I will be rooting for OSU to make the final four as well, I think we match up very well with them and I'd far rather face them than UNC in Raleigh, NC. I want UNC to lose as early as possible. That's looking pretty far ahead though, just one game at a time right? And as far as Notre Dame, even if they survive the opening round (not a given), I don't think they get past Northwestern.

How in the world did Indiana get in, they are not playing well at all - gave up 4 goals to OSU in big ten tournament??
They had a #6 RPI, but did not get seeded, so RPI doesn't mean everything. I'm telling everyone I know that the Zips got a #1 seed, regardless of whether they care or not.

Because they're Indiana. So long as they have a winning record of any kind, they'll be in. They're hosting a first-round game, which means that the NCAA will at least get one high-attendance (which means more $$$) game out of them.

Not only is Indiana IN, but according to the story below (link) #12 seed Butler has to GO ON THE ROAD to face the winner of IU and Kenny Lola's Louisville squad. May the conspiracy theorists sink their teeth into THIS one!LinkAll in all I like the bracket from the Zips standpoint. We can't complain.
Ummm, I'm baffled... maybe Butler doesn't have a regulation size field????

You might be onto it. Apparently they play homes games in the "Butler Bowl", an ancient (built in 1928) multi-purpose facility in Indy that is home to both the Bulldog Football and Soccer teams. It seems very likely that the soccer pitch dimensions would be restricted by a structure this old. It's interesting that Butler got in as an at-large, losing the Horizon championship to Green Bay. Butler already owns a 2-1 victory over the Hoosiers IN Bloomington. Butler Bowl Wiki

Very strange. Of course, it gets the NCAA more money from better attendance.

Ah, check this picture out (best I could find). Notice how close the soccer lines are to the football lines. I think I guessed correctly right off the bat...post-361-1258414675_thumb.jpg
