Get insider access to Akron Football as a member of the Gridiron Club

Head football coach J.D. Brookhart invites the entire University of Akron community to join the Zips Gridiron Club.

The purpose of the Gridiron Club is to generate support for Zips football, as we continue to build a championship level program.

By creating a unique set of benefits to give members 'insider access' to University of Akron football, your membership will help us achieve that goal.

For your donation of $2,000 to Akron football, you will get the following exclusive benefits for the 2005 season:

• Complimentary travel with the team for the Akron-Buffalo road game (Oct 7-8). Travel includes round-trip bus service as a member of the Zips official travel party, hotel accommodations at the team hotel, Friday evening reception held at the team hotel and game ticket.

• One sideline credential for the 2005 season (participant must 21 years of age).

• VIP priority parking pass for the 2005 season.

• Exclusive Monday membership luncheons during the season with Coach Brookhart. Location and starting date are TBA.

• Complimentary adidas sideline coaches polo

• Ticket priority to any post-season contest (MAC Championship and/or bowl game).

• E-mail of the weekly press notes prior to all games.

• Game program and scoreboard recognition.

• Recognition on UA football web page

• Invitations to activities for Meet the Team Day, Awards Banquet, National Signing Day, and the Spring Game

To sign up for the Zips Gridiron Club, contact Pat Kreger, Associate Athletics Director for Development, at 330-972-8590 or via email at pkreger@uakron.edu

The Grid Iron Club is not new, but if I am going to give 2G to the school, I am going to give to the Foundation and designate it to football so I could get the tax deduction.

The gift for the Grid Iron Club is tax-deductable. Just as any gift donation to the University.

Are you sure? For a gift to be tax ded.., nothing can be received for the gift. In this case, the donor receives tickets, sideline passes, etc.

I believe you have to subtract out the actual value to come up with a tax deduction figure. The tickets clearly have a dollar value, so that is easily subtracted. I'm sure there are IRS guidelines for figuring out the value minus the perks received.
