ZachTheZip Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 http://www.ohio.com/news/break_news/81076982.htmlThey still haven't finished the 1st and 2nd floors, though. I still wish they could find a way to put a restaurant somewhere on the 1st floor.Memorial Hall will definitely be torn down over the summer to make room for a new College of Education building. Lots of history that needs to be saved and transferred to the JAR, but it's all for the best. Quote
zip37 Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 Moved here in '59 fell in love w/xips bb in that building. Sad to see it go. Quote
zippyrifle32 Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 That building needs to go and fast. Just graduating from sports science this past fall, the college of Ed needs a centralized home bad and Memorial is really showing it's age. Sports science made due with what they had, but putting them in the new stadium is a great fit since many of the student trainers and managers of our athletic teams are in a sports science programs. I'll have to stop by this semester to see what I'm missing. Quote

I know that would require taking a look at the old discussions of having a bar on campus. However, they serve alcohol in the suites already so they could probably knock that out pretty easy. It could be a great place used over the entire year. You could stop in before any campus event and not have to hassel with parking twice. It could employ mostly university students. I would go there often to support the students. Quote
Dr Z Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Here is some more on the Bod Pod pictured in the article. The University of Akron offers BOD POD testing: * Community: $25.00 per test * Faculty/Staff: $20 per test * Students: $15 per test Quote

Doesn't seem to be much of a push to sell Akron gear Quote

Plus the students living in the new dorms would be right around the corner. Quote

I assume, by "relatively speaking" you mean at a place like Akron/MAC school? I find it hard to believe (without concrete proof) that OSU, Michigan, Clemson, Tennessee, etc. don't gain a HELL of a lot of $$$ from merchandise sales. Quote
