akronzips71
I was dead wrong. The Zips looked no better tonight than they did Saturday night. EMU played with energy, confidence, poise and smarts. They made the Zips look like Toledo. The Zips couldn't hit from outside even with open looks. Ordinarily I'd be screaming at them to take it to the hole. But they couldn't hit the 3-footers, or the 5-footers, or the 10-footers.How long ago that great road win at WMU seems now, uselessly squandered away by losing at home to a team they could have beaten by 20 had they only played as they did at WMU.No excuses. But I do wonder if Hitchens could have supplied enough spark to get the Zips over the hump tonight had he been on the floor. I hope everyone on the team learned a valuable lesson tonight. When a player puts himself in a position of having to sit out a game, for whatever reason, the punishment can go far beyond that one player. Not long ago, Buffalo was on top of the world at 3-0, and Can't fans were crying about their team's inconsistency. Then Buffalo lost 3 in a row and Can't became consistent winners. It's just like last year. This week's hero team is next week's goat team. The Zips could lose a couple more in a row and then go on a roll. Who knows?Who will be at the top of their game for the MAC tournament?A couple of points by Humpty would have made the difference. The Hip Zip
The play that broke our back was the Medlock layup with about 50 seconds left that put the Eagles up 4 and that one came straight from KD. He yelled for Bardo to go out and and pressure the Ball at the top of the key so Bardo goes out and Medlock drives right around him into a wide open lane that Bardo vacated. Ballgame. They play man and get their center brought out up top and beat to the basket 4-5 times a game!
mes102
Poor effort and heart tonight...those people know who im talking about...if I was Dambrot(lucky im not), all of you that played and put no effort(that's what it looked like) on that floor tonight, would be in street clothes on wednesday and I'd play even if we lost to NIU...as long as they play with effort...none of that was showed tonight...i'd rather watch the women's team...heck, i rather watch the swimming team after this effort...U WANT MORE PLAYING TIME, THEN PLAY LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CMU,EMU,WMU,NIU,BSU,BGSU,Can't Statecks...want to know what they have all in common? they PLAY even if the refs are terrible(whch they are)...all i have to say is WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If we had Zeke down low we could gamble and send the 2-3 guy out and pressure knowing we had an answer in the paint. To do what he did on that play tonight was absurd. Medlock is a good, quick guard and the outcome of that play was very predictable because it left the lane vacant. Another time in the game Zeke made a pretty hook shot so what does Keith do?? That's right, sits him down with the next whistle and fatigue was not a factor. Lets not give the kid a chance to get on a roll and build his confidence. zipsbandman
Wow what a stinker....I mean Eastern Michigan???? This team lays more eggs than Peter Cottontail. Well pretty much every opponent that plays us is more athletic than we are (minus Miami) so if shots are not falling what do we really have on offense? I've pretty much given up on the prospect of this team ever breaking out and playing above the rest of this landfill conference. Time to roll the dice in Cleveland. bandzip
Too much bardo. Not enough Marshall.Marshall, Zeke: 16 minutes, 1-4 with 2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block, and one very ugly pass that rolled to the far student section about 5 minutes into the game.Bardo, Mike: 5 minutes, 1-2 with 3 points, 2 rebounds. I actually saw Bardo duck to get out of the way of an Eastern Mich player as he drove to the hoop. He deserves to have his A$$ glued to the bench. ejcool27
We just don't match up well against Eastern Michigan, and to top it off they started off hot. Also, Humpty was out (which I totally agree with Coach if it's what I heard all I'm saying on that) We needed to lose to a team we should've beat maybe this will wake us up, make us hungry, something...We are a good team, but I think we thought we were gonna be amazing coming off a MAC Championship season, with a good showing against Gonzaga, with Zeke coming in, and only Nate leaving....Nest year might be the year we thought this year should be! But this is still a good MAC team nothing more, when they play there ass off they can be the number one team in this conference.....Unfortunately their attitude is why were losing in my opinion we act like we can beat teams cause were Akron.....That still means nothing unfortunately
