Quickzips Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 0-14 in the MAC, Toledo has Ball State on the ropes at halftime, up 30-15 in Toledo. Ball State came into the day with the inside track to the 2 seed, could Toledo throw a monkey wrench into that? Quote
Dave in Green Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 Don't hold your breath. This is the same Toledo that led Cleveland State early in the second half before totally collapsing and losing by 24. Quote
GoZips88 Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 35-21 Toledo with about 12 to go in the second half.A Ball State loss creates a three-way tie in the West. CMU, EMU, and BSU all at 8-7. Quote
Dave in Green Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 Ball State is currently 6 of 31 from the field (19.4%). Even Toledo has a chance against this level of shooting incompetence. Quote
Dave in Green Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 Toledo desperately tries to keep its perfect conference record intact. But Ball State misses a 3 with 5 seconds left to tie, and Toledo falls into its first MAC win of the year, 45-42. Quote
Quickzips Posted February 28, 2010 Author Report Posted February 28, 2010 Just looking at the box score tells you everything you need to know about the MAC West. That division alone is setting basketball back into the middle ages. 87 points COMBINED. Teams combined to shoot 29-89 (32.5%), 13 assists to 26 turnovers. Ball State only got scoring from four players (including one who only put in 4). 6-28 from 3 (21.4%). Ball State managed to lose despite shooting 14 more free throws than Toledo. Congrats to the Rockets, I guess. Quote
zip37 Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 The MAC needs to seed teams according to their records rather than the division, if the west can't compete tough shitsky, as they say in the Russian Air Force, or better yet scrap the tournament. Fat chance of either Quote

Fat chance of either Actually it helps the East a little by doing it this way, otherwise all the East team would draw each other in the 2-3 bracket. The only way you don't draw the West winner in the semi's is if a 7 or 10 seed upsets them. The team it really screws over is the fifth if there are at least four good teams in the East (like last year and this year), but if you're finishing fourth in the East anyway, perhaps you don't deserve the first round bye. I think it is OK the way it is. Quote
