KingZip Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 BG will not lose twice so MIAMI is pretty much out of the MAC title hunt. Toledo, Miami and Akron may push the BG but at home the Falcons are close to unbeatable. Akron vs. Miami looks like a good game, edge to the Redskins at home. If Akron steals one there the game at BG on the 29th could be a big one - the second straight year that Akron plays for the East title - or at least a shot at it. With games against Ball State, Ohio and Can't State still to come it is not really as big as Miami in 2004. It looks like a two Bowl season for the MAC, Toledo and BG. NIU may squeak in because they have a bowl reputation and have a fan following. Akron would likely have to win out the rest of their games and go 9-2 (10-2/9-3) for a bowl invite. Just making the MAC title game does not insure a bowl bid -the bowls have the option of taking a team with a better fan draw according to what the MAC Commish said last year on radio here in Cleveland. bigzipguy Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Could not agree more Kingzip. Now we know how bad that loss to C. Mich hurt Akron's chances of winning the Mac East!!!! Quote
Zipsrifle Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 I also think Miami is out, but what I'm more concerned with is the Zips building some momentum so that when we hit Miami we're ready to give them their 3rd loss. We've got to focus one at a time on each game and build a head of steam so that when we hit BG, we have a chance. (I think I just contradicted myself ) Quote
zip37 Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 TOO SOON TO RULE OUT MIAMI, ALTHOUGH THERE IS NOTHING I WLD RTHR DO, BUT THAT SAID, THE ZIPS NEED TO TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON. WITH BALL AMMUNITION, LOCK AND LOAD. Quote
InTheZone Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 Miami can definately still win the East with two losses. If they go in and beat BG, and we do too, which is a possibility, and then they beat us, that leaves a 3 way tie at the top of the East between the Zips, BG, and Miami, just as a predicted in my preseason predictions. IBleedMACGreen Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 Miami has yet to play Akron, Ohio and BG. They ARE in the race. You can't count anyone out yet other than Buffalo (just because) and Can't. Quote
Ryno aka Menace Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Yeah never say never...stranger things have happened. Current Conference Standings Ohio 1-0 Bowling Green 1-0 Akron 1-1 Miami (OHIO) 1-2 Buffalo 0-1 Can't State 0-3 Akron still has to play OU, BG, and Miami Miami still has to play OU, Akron, and BG BG still has to play OU AKRON, and Miami ya see the top 4 all still have to play each other, by no means is "ANYONE" out of it yet.
