Did The Zips Grow A Heart?

All season we have whined that the Zips play without heart. Tonight one player manned upand seems to have found the heart of the Zips.Steve McNees with his clutch last second three ball to send the game into a second overtimecame straight from his heart. What a play. Steve deserved the accolade of "offensive playerof the game". Steve nailed that desperation trey while Carlos Medlock "gacked" three timeslate in the game. Medlock's 42 points go for naught when he could not score when the chips were on the table. Medlock gacked. Got to love these Zips. They may be maturing at theright time.

Steve was doin work all game long. I could tell he wanted this victory and when the lead suddenly vanished, it almost seemed like he was the one who had the most energy. How about next game we blow WMU out of the water in the second half and get our starters some rest?!

some of our starters got sent to the bench, not by dambrot, but by the referees...haven't heard much on here about it since we won today(which if we lost, we would be talking about it), but those refs seem like they tried to win that game for EMU...IMHO that is...just wanted to know if i saw the same refs everyone else saw..sometimes i get caught up and start hallucinating there's always bad officiating...

The officiating was beyond disgusting. I was screaming at the TV for most of the game. You gotta give the guys props for playing through it and coming up with the W.

Trust me, it was way worse in person. They were calling the most bizzarre tick tack fouls all game long and letting players hack each other under tha basket. Props to Dambrot for keeping his cool. I was really worried we were going to run out of bodies to throw in there by the time the second OT rolled around. Speaking of playing with heart, another big game for Nik as well. The kid really feeds off the atmosphere at big games, it's really fun to watch. There was a stretch in the second half when I thought KD should have pulled him, he just looked tired and started missing shots, but we had no one else to put in. When he picked up his fifth I thought he was going to let the ref have it but he somehow just walked away. He's grown up a lot and learned to contain his enthusiasm much better since last year.

From my seat in section 125 I observed MAC head of officials and associate commissioner Boyages watching that sorry group of officials. How can they watch live, and see replays and not correct some of the blatant errors made by those 3 officials. For instance how do u eject a player for a flagrant foul ( on D Rob) when you didnt even call a foul on the play?? Isnt that admitting their mistake? Im sorry to say the MAC will remain a mediocre 15th rank conference until they improve quality of refs. How is that done? More money? Well guess what- No Can't in the final ( no I dont think that was due to officiating) and possibly no Akron means attendance of probably 4000 in final. Talk about lost revenue.

i was there in person and thought it was the worse i ever saw...the band director from where i was standing, looked like he was trying to talk to a MAC "guy" when he walked past our band and he ignored the director when our director it looked like he was complaining about the refs

Think back. D-Robb shot FOUR free throws. He missed the first one and drained then next three. Two free throws were for the foul on him. And, the second set of two were for the technical on theEMU bench. The issue was that originally the officials were not even going to review the play on themonitor while D-Robb was laying on the floor writhing in pain. Ramsey got his ejection for violentlyprotesting the flagrant foul and ejection of the player who clobbered D-Robb.

I feel like they like the games to be close so they try their best to make call that do that. Also they like to keep the conference "competitive" so calls are blown. The MAC is run by a bunch of Tim Donaghys from the guys in the office to the refs on the floor. They are all idiots and I sure hope we can get out of here asap. Even if that means going to C-USA i don't care. The MAC is an embarrassment to us the fans and they constantly make our teams look bad. "The New Mark of EXCELLENCE?" okay good one!
