Dave in Green Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 Might as well savor a moment that Zips fans normally only can dream of.At this very moment in the continual shuffling of RPI numbers, the University of Akron Zips are ranked #89 and the University of North Carolina Tar Heels #90.RPI at StatSheet.com Quote

Quickzips Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 Seriously? I know it is North Carolina, but that is pretty close to the absolute worst North Carolina team they have ever fielded. Wake me when the Zips are in the same RPI range as them during a good year. Quote
Zipmeister Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 I'll bet Dave is never inviting Quick or 71 to a party for fear they would wizz in the punch bowl. Quote

I mean, it's kind of nice, I guess.... It would be a lot more savor-worthy if the RPIs were Zips 29 and NC 30. Quote
Dave in Green Posted March 13, 2010 Author Report Posted March 13, 2010 Of course we're all more interested in seeing UA grow stronger than in just being even with a traditionally great team having a down season. UA is about where it always is at this time of the year with KD at the helm -- not great but not bad. Still, it's an interesting point to note that the consistently great UNC program, with access to the best recruits in the nation and coached by the great Roy Williams, can fall so far as to be about even with a UA team that does not have stud athletes and is not coached by an elite coach. They could be GREAT, but if they don't win, they don't RPI. Like they could lose 20 games by one point each, that still makes them a 20 game loser, and drops their RPI. But it certainly does not make them equal to us. Quote
