Looking back at Scout.com, I've realized that maybe we shouldn't put so much stock in how many stars a player is rated as. The evidence:

FOUR STARS - Zeke Marshall

THREE STARS - Steve Swiech

TWO STARS - Dru Joyce, Romeo Travis, Quade Milum, Bubba Walther, Cedric Middleton, John Rybak, Nate Linhart, Jimmy Conyers, Mike Bardo, Steve McNees, Jimmy Conyers, Darryl Roberts, Chris McKnight, Ronnie Steward, Brett McClanahan, Anthony Hitchens, Alex Sullivan, Nikola Cvetinovic,

How about D.J. Cooper?

Just kidding...he was a 3 star, same as....

STEVE SWIECH!

Also interesting...Al Fisher was a 1 star, less than John Rybak lol

Aside from LeBron, who indeed was one of a kind, you have a very hard time predicting how a player will do in Div I. The opponents are bigger, faster, older, more experienced and better than anything he ever faced in High School, unless of course someone in your league had a LeBron or Alcindor (Kareem for you young folks).

Don't put too much stock into the star rating system? BLASPHEMY! The star rating system is an EXACT science that accurately predicts future success of 17 and 18 year olds coming out of high school. We absolutely should count on the star rating system.

Now where did I put that sarcasm button???

Short look at Rivals seems more accurate when looking over some of the players mentioned.

Stars look at athletic and basketball (or football) talent at the time. Stars do not look at brains, heart and work ethic (or lack of any of the 3).
