ZachTheZip Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=capr...nsion-152450824 "If I don't go to the NCAA tournament in the next five years they're going to fire (me) no matter how many games I won," Akron coach Keith Dambrot said. "Our jobs are hard, man. It's tough to win and harder to be good every year. And even if you are good and you don't make the tournament, people say, 'Well, he's no good.' For us, you can play great all year and then get beat in our tournament on a bank shot and you don't get to go to the NCAA tournament." Quote

Did you even read the quotations? Seriously though, Dambrot is probably right, and may even be a little generous to himself in this article. I personally think if he doesn't get back to the NCAA's in the next three years (the Zeke era) people will start calling for his head. He probably will even need to win a few games. I like KD as much as the next guy, he's an Akron guy through and through, and he deserves to stay here as long as he keeps providing results. But the reality of college athletics is that nobody really cares what you did last year. You need to keep moving the program forward or your out the door. Quote

I like KD also, however you can win 20+ games every year, but don't even make it. It might not be this year like I said. Sooner or later that hammer will come down. Quote
Zipmeister Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 If going to the tourney is really that important to KD, he must keep this web site handy. Key to the Big Dance Quote
ZachTheZip Posted June 27, 2010 Author Report Posted June 27, 2010 I think next season he absolutely has to make it. This season I would give him a bit more leniency since the roster turnover is so great. He needs to be good this season, no doubt, because you can't make such drastic changes without getting results, but not making the tournament is ok as long as we get some good wins and don't screw up against any weaker teams (but if we do that we're at least on the bubble for the tournament anyway). zip37 Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 Interesting to say the least, I tried watching the 'Beg LeBron' crap on Ch 5 but got sick to my stomach watching the begging, what CRAP. I would like to see LeBron to stay, but I'll be hanged if I would ever beg. Would do it for KD though! Quote
