ZachTheZip Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Tomorrow at 6:00PM, the women's team will be playing an exhibition game against Wright State at the newly renovated Lee Jackson Field. This is your first chance to see how the new field holds up to gameplay, and to check out the stadium in person. It's also the first athletic event on campus for the 2010-2011 season. The women's team is improving greatly, and with the new stadium to help recruiting they should keep getting better in the future. They won the MAC East last season and had the best record in team history. I think with solid fan support they have the potential to be a top 25 team, or at least start receiving votes in the poll. Does the fact that the time was moved up from 7:30 mean the lights aren't functioning yet, or that these are the green Zips? Quote
ZachTheZip Posted August 12, 2010 Author Report Posted August 12, 2010 Does the fact that the time was moved up from 7:30 mean the lights aren't functioning yet, or that these are the green Zips? I'm worried that the lights aren't working. I wanted it to be at 7:30 to see the field at night and see the lighting system. Quote
g-mann17 Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Ladies win 1-0. Quick interview, nice shot of construction. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted August 14, 2010 Author Report Posted August 14, 2010 Great to see them get a win. And great to finally see another sporting event on campus. And yes, the reason they moved up the start time was because the lights still aren't working. Quote
UA Fan Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Way to christen the new field, ladies ! Quote
Z.I.P. Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Way to christen the new field, ladies ! Zach and company, How would you rate the goalkeepers? I read they played a half each. Does freshman Alex Luevano have a chance to unseat the veteran keeper? Quote

Does freshman Alex Luevano have a chance to unseat the veteran keeper? No...Jeny Wolbert is still going to hold on to that seat...Pfau has a lot of faith in Wolbert...Luevano had a nice save on a free kick that was a difficult shot to stop, but did a nice job...I would still give it to Jeny Wolbert...I think he wants to give the backup GK some good experience when it comes to say an injury, or lack of play...but I don't look into it like that...just getting her feet wet...I heard from Zach that Alex Luevano will have a couple of her defenders coming in next year's class...so the communication will be there so next year might be more of a possibility...
