Congrats to Maryland today, I hope they go on to win the Championship. I said in an earlier post that I think todays game should have been the Championship game.

Regardless of whether we would have run the table and became National Champions, I have a problem with the NCAA as an association. We are not the first school to get snubbed by seedings in postseason, but the NCAA is truly a sham. Texas ran up 70 points in football today, followed by USC blowing out UCLA. Why? Because in order to secure your place for the national championship, that is what you have to do.

Read below.....the purpose and values of the NCAA. Is this remotely consistent with what you see in college sports?

Core Purpose

Our purpose is to govern competition in a fair, safe, equitable and sportsmanlike manner, and to integrate intercollegiate athletics into higher education so that the educational experience of the student-athlete is paramount.  :puke:

Core Values

The Association - through its member institutions, conferences and national office staff - shares a belief in and commitment to:

The collegiate model of athletics in which students participate as an avocation, balancing their academic, social and athletics experiences.

The highest levels of integrity and sportsmanship.

The pursuit of excellence in both academics and athletics.

The supporting role that intercollegiate athletics plays in the higher education mission and in enhancing the sense of community and strengthening the identity of member institutions. :puke:

An inclusive culture that fosters equitable participation for student-athletes and career opportunities for coaches and administrators from diverse backgrounds.

Respect for institutional autonomy and philosophical differences.

Presidential leadership of intercollegiate athletics at the campus, conference and national levels.

The big schools and conferences already have advantages with facilities, MONEY, support, etc. How is the NCAA "strengthening the identity of member institutions" and creating a "fair" and "equitable" competition. I don't see it. What a bunch of bologna.

Sour grapes.......I know.

NOT SOUR GRAPES, THE NCAA WANTS TO CONTROL ALL ASPECTS OF COLLEGE LIFE NOT JUST ATHLETICS, THEY THINK ONLY OF A POLITICAL AGENDA, (THE RECENT EDICT ON "INAPPROPRIATE" TEAM NAAMES IS A GREAT EXAMPLE) AND, OF COURSE MONEY-- THEY BOUGHT THE NIT. THAT SHOWS THEY WANT TOTAL CONTROL. THE SHAME OF IT IS, COLLEGE PRESIDENTS ARE ALLOWING THIS INJUSTICE. :D
