MDZip
My son sent me a copy of a nearly full-page ad UA placed in the Wall Street Journal. The one I have is from November 10th. In it, Proenza writes about the new gold standard (I love the UA Au connection, maybe we should be Akron University). I know most people have heard the phrase but he makes a very good point with it and the biggest point of all tackles the UA open admissions policy head on. He states that current performance metrics for universities are based on how many students they exclude and how much money they spend. He argues that a university should be measured by how they help enable the success of their students. It is a well conceived and written ad and while I don't expect that thousands of students will come and beat down our doors because of it, I like the proactive approach that is being taken. I can't find a link to it, or I'd post it. Has anyone else seen these ads?
UAZipster0305
I for one would love to see the ad.
Z.I.P.
I for one would love to see the ad. +2. The idea is what makes the University of Akron (or AU if you will) a special place. It's our heritage, and I'm proud that our president agrees with its value.

UA Fan
Would that be a localized ad (like some magazines do) or national? LP is a trip..
ZachTheZip
I can't seem to find a copy of it online. I did, however, find this page on UA's website. Lots of things going on to advertise the university that i never knew about. It also has a "UA in the news" list of UA-related articles. zip37
Had it not been for the open enrollement, I could not haave gone to college, my HS grades were that poor, but the USAF Tech School was the turning point in my academic carrer, I was promised Cooks & Bakers or Air Police if I flunked out of Tech School
MDZip
Since it may not be available on-line anywhere, here is the best I can do with a newspaper scan. The first image was above the fold, the second, obviously, below it.
ksu sucks
I completely agree with Proenza's message, but to be fair he hasn't exactly been the voice of frugality during his tenure as UA president.
