TopCard
We were clearly on the defensive all game long against a superior Akron program. Congratulations on your national championship. Zipmeister
My favorite passage from your link: "Ken Lolla, the best in the college game, pitting his team against a rock-solid program that he began in Akron." With over two dozen NCAA appearances, Ken didn't begin Akron's rock-solid program, but he did an acceptable job of maintaining it while he was here. you am i
Last year at this time we were feeling like you are tonight. Its hard to come that close and come up short, but its true what they say - there's always next year, if that's any consolation. It was an exciting game. The teams appeared pretty evenly matched. A few breaks going the other way and the outcome could have been different.

scottditzen
Hi there Topcard. Thanks for visiting the forum. Tough loss for your team...this could have easily gone to PK's which would've killed me. I know Coach Lolla, he's a class act. I am sure there are good days on the horizon for both of our programs. Dave in Green
You Louisville fans have a great coach and a great program. I'm not a longtime soccer fan, but I can honestly say this was the best, most evenly matched soccer game I've ever watched. The fact that Louisville has such a good team makes this an even sweeter win for Zips fans. Between Louisville and Akron, maybe we can make the soccer world stop believing that college soccer begins and ends with the ACC.
johnnyzip84
Sometimes truth is indeed stranger than fiction. A year ago, who envisioned the Zips getting the monkey off their back by beating ex-coach Ken Lolla and his Louisville Cardinals in the final? I always liked Ken and thought of him (much like Caleb) as being just as much an ambassador for the game as he is a head coach. In his early years at Akron I attended a coaching clinic in Jackson to get my E license, and lo and behold it was Ken Lolla who ran the show. I would like nothing better than to see the Zips and Cards develop a nice rivalry in the sport. It seems like a natural now that the ice has been broken, even though a year ago it may have seemed like an episode from The Twilight Zone. Speaking of the Twilight Zone, as Ken has gotten a little older he’s starting to look a little like the creator of that ground-breaking show. Or am I just getting overly excited for the Sci-Fi Channel’s New Year’s Day Twilight Zone Marathon?

You guys were all class the whole time. From the team to the fans and coaching staff. Congratulations and good luck next year!
GoZips
TopCard, Louisville and Akron share one malady in common. Both of these fine coachs will be throughly tempted by dazzling offers in the coming months. The glitter is great; the temptations strong. Lolla has bolted in the past. Thus far, Porter has not. If coach Lolla is important to Louisville then he needs to be locked into a high dollar, long term contract, ASAP. And, having a banner in your soccer stadium that reads: 2010 National Runner-up is by no means demeaning. Akron already has two of those.
