Dave in Green
According to the ABJ: A violation of the same rule in November led to an indefinite suspension by the UA athletic department. McKnight then appealed it and won. ''Basically, we have a process we go through here at the university when we are dealing with student-athletes and issues,'' UA director of athletics Tom Wistrcill said Friday while watching practice. ''The process played out. He was exonerated, got reinstated and here he is. I am glad to have him back.'' ABJ He appealed, won the appeal, was exonerated and reinstated. That explains his Facebook posting. Good for him, good for the Zips and good for Zips fans. He got a long and loud cheer from the crowd at the JAR when he entered today's game, and looked pretty good in the few minutes he played. For all the complaints we might have about some things he doesn't consistently do well, he brings a dimension to the team that no other player has yet been able to match. ZachTheZip
Thinking about it and what I saw at the game today, I think the biggest impact McKnight has on the team is that he brings toughness to a team that often plays weaker than they should. McKnight isn't afraid to face down the other teams' big uglies, while most of our guys let themselves get pushed around. Hopefully the new guys learn something from him in that regard. GoZips
Zach, I completely agree with you. Brett was not only tough, he was poised and in far better shape than anyone knew. Brett looked like the player the Zips have been waiting on. Today, he was the game changer.
MDZip
I, for one, am very happy Brett has returned. He is having another good night. Am concerned about the Zips defense though, where did it go? ORU shooting over 70%. Good thing the Zips are too. Funniest comment by Joe Dunn after ORU tossed up a prayer and made it - "Those are the kinds of things that are usually answered at Oral Roberts". Dave in Green
So far, McKnight is playing consistently, which has been one of the concerns in the past. He's not taking too many shots, another past concern, and he's hitting his shots at a better percentage than previous years. If he continues to play like this, I don't see how anyone could be anything but happy with his return.
