Lets here it-- I think the Zips will win, they have gotton stronger and better as the season has progressed. I don't think they will win by much.

Late in the year Akron has been scoring a lot of points. I look for that to continue. Look for the young Memphis QB to have a tough day in a pressure situation, but their RB will keep them in the game.

Akron 34

Memphis 28

Could be one of the best bowl games this year.

Can you still make a poll up in this topic? I don't know right now, Memphis has two big advantages. Wolf ran all over us, so I expect a simialr performance out of Williams. I think what I'm worried about more is our starting position. I realized the advantage of starting position this year. Sounds like they pin their opponents deep quite a bit.

I think our biggest advantage will be our ability to blow up thier D with passing. Getsy needs to be on if we're going to win. Biggs will get enough carries to keep their D off balance. I think that Memphis will be more one dimensional than NIU, so I think our D will be able to key on Williams, but he'll still put up big yards. If they had a passing attack, we'd really be screwed.

I'm undecided right now. I've been excited like this twice this year and we ended up laying an egg both times. We looked pretty good in the NIU game though, and if that team shows up, we stand a good chance. We have the ability to beat Memphis. Will we have our heads in the right place though??????

To me it comes down to this. When you present a high powered passing offense (I know we all love Biggs but our identity is in the passing game) against a high powered rushing offense there is bound to be 1 of 2 outcomes. Either a high scoring or low scoring game. High scoring favors us. Score early and often and force Memphis to have to throw more than they would like in order to keep up. If this is a low scoring afair then we loose. Biggs is a hell of a running back and I will never take anything away from him, but DeAngelo Williams is that much better. In a low scoring, ball control game against Memphis we are going to lose. That said, Hixon comes out on the opening kickoff and takes it 93 yards for the TD. Memphis struggles on its first series and is forced to punt. A heavy dose of Biggs combined with the short, high percentage, run after catch passing game on Akrons first real drive results in another TD. Memphis, down early, panics and starts trying to sling it around the field and the Zips win.

I cannot see much "D" being played in this game. I voted for Akron in a close one. Akron's high octane offense vs. Williams.

Akron 40

Memphis 37

Oh my God, I'm going to be rooting for Akron  The MCB should be a fun time. GO MAC !!!

Well, I've come to my conclusion. I think the Zips will win in a close one (shocker huh?). Why, well, for some reason we seem to play better when we're underdogs. I've been nosing around and IMO, nobody really knows anything about us. They know a lot about Williams and saw how Wolfe ran all over us, so DW will really kill us. Usually, there is one little blurb about how Akron has the Best D in the MAC, but then it's "Wolfe bla bla bla bla Williams bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla...... In addition, despite the fact that they seem to acknowledge that Memphis doesn't have the best pass D, apparently we will somehow be stopped through the air. We'll also have about 4 times more fans there than Memphis. I think we could be a big help to the team if we're constantly making noise. I think we'll show up with a balanced attack and be able to move the ball. Though Williams is a hell of an athlete, if we get them on 3rd or 4th and long, we'll pin our ears back and get to the QB quite a few times. Finally, this team has shown a lot of heart lately, and I pray to GOD that the Akron that showed up for NIU shows up for Memphis. I don't think anyone will doubt that DW will put up some serious yards, but I think Luke will put up some serious yards too. We've been disrespected all year so there's no reason for this to change. In the end, it'll be a shootout.
