Dave in Green
No question the Serb has made a major leap in all areas of the game this season. I honestly did not expect him to be able to play at this level based on what I thought was a pretty inconsistent performance last season. If he stayed another season and made another leap in performance of the same magnitude, I think he might be able to play in the NBA Development League. It should be noted, however, that Linhart played pro ball in Europe before making it in the NBADL. The odds of getting from the NBADL to the NBA are pretty small. The Serb is a little undersized for an NBA power forward and lacks the shot of an NBA small forward. It would take a major leap in skill levels for him to make the NBA. Pro ball in Europe probably pays better than the NBADL, and the Serb has many personal reasons for wanting to be closer to home. The Zips team and fans will definitely miss him next season. Quickzips
I love what Nik brings to our team, but the idea of him getting to the NBA one day is almost laughable. D-league? Possibly. But not the NBA. He possess some nice tools to be able to make a big impact at this level, but his game doesn't translate to the NBA at all. His lack of vertical leaping ability would make it difficult for him to finish shots and grab a lot of rebounds at that level. He doesn't have much of a mid-range game, let alone 3-point shooting ability. He is a pretty good interior passer and he has good footwork, but that won't be enough to make it at the NBA level. Even in a bench role. As much as I hate to see him go after this year, Europe probably is the best fit for him in the long run.
Dr Z
November PD article (for reference) I know what I want," the power forward said. "I want to get my school done, go back to Europe, play pro ball, get a job and make babies. A simple life, regular guy, 9-to-5."
GoZips
First of all, Diggs will be a MAJOR player next year, even if we only lose 5 guys instead of 4 of them. And I see him playing the two guard positions, especially on the defensive end. Secondly, lets get rid of any thoughts that Nik has any chance whatsoever of being an NBA draft pick. The only way Diggs figures to be a key player next season is if, and only if, he greatly improves his ball handling skills. He has a big up side if he does the work over the summer. He also needs to see the floor and release the ball to his team mates. He tends to try and do it all himself which often results in a turnover. Got to like his "hops".
