skip-zip Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 I had to share this with my fellow fans. Like many of you, I chose to spend some time with friends watching the game downtown at the "Official POSTGAME Headquarters" of the Akron Zips. But, what we saw happen during the POSTGAME just infuriated several of us. We noticed that some staff members were wearing OSWho shirts, and we assumed that it may have been some of the people that were arriving for the night shift, until we noticed that several of the staff members that were already there during our game HAD ACTUALLY CHANGED THEIR SHIRTS. Is this the Zips POSTGAME experience they are referring to? Could they have at least waited until we walked out the door to change? Was it that difficult for some of them to wear their Akron shirts for more than a few minutes after our game ended? Should we assume that they cater to the fans of their LOCAL D-1 University when there is an event that's convenient for them to draw in business, and then they return to the "same-old same-old" as quickly as possible? I'm sure I am not the only Zips fan who wouldn't enjoy spending their POSTGAME time and money in a bar full of staff members wearing the gear of a competing school. We need another OBC downtown....please. Quote

Cowlumbus State athletics after all is Soooooooo much bigger and more popular than little Akron's attempt at competing in the Big Dance. Try thinking of it like the sport of football or basketball compared to oh say, soccer. Or does that put the shoe on the other foot? Quote
RootforRoo44 Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Thanks a lot...all of this talk has made me thirsty...now I have to go drive to Giant Eagle to pick up a six pack of Verich Gold. And they probably will be sold out! ugh Quote
Big Zip Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Stop the whining already....they pay the University for the designation and that is all the University cares about the money not the experience. Couple that with if our team showed up in Chicago and beat Notre Dame like they could have I'm sure they would have kept the Akron gear on. Not to mention this is such a common thread on here about that bar you should expect it and if you don't then your the idiot. I don't go there because the place is incompetent beyond the clothing the staff wears. I posted here before we tried to go prior to a football game last year and the line was out the door with only have the tables sat because they weren't staffed properly -- haven't been back since.
