Those who profess to favor freedom and yet depreciate agitation, are people who want crops without ploughing the ground; they want rain without thunder and lightning; they want the ocean without the roar of its many waters. The struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, or it may be both. But it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand; it never has and it never will.

Overall, UA sports taken as a whole are on an upward trajectory. Football has been the obvious lagger. I can be patient as long as I see signs that football is headed in the right direction. That will play out on the field this fall. This is not a make-or-break season in terms of my interest in Zips football. But it's getting darned close to it. My expectations are for a clear and obvious improvement on the field this season. The minimum standard should be that the Zips are not an embarassment in a generally weak football conference like the MAC. Longterm I'd at least like to see the Zips football team in the hunt for the MAC championship like the men's basketball team.
