Zips Win! Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 Just saw on mlsoccer that the two teams played to a 2-2 tie. Unfortunately, Perry scored an own goal OOPs!!! My daughters said we are supposed to keep this on the down low (DL)! Got it... Quote
MDZip Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 I was actually at this game (in the seats on the field) so I had a great view of everything that happened, except the concession lines were so inept that I didn't get back to my seat until after that play had occurred, so since I was there and didn't see it, it didn't happen. Actually, Perry played a decent game (but I really didn't see that play), here are a couple of photos from that night. He also was one of the few players to stay after and sign for the fans. I was smart enough to bring my Zips NCAA Championship program (which brought a smile to his face), so now I have a signature from every significant contributing member of that team. Chris Korb, unfortunately, did not get into that game. Quote
bobbyake Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 here's the highlights of the game, you can find it around the 3:40's http://www.mlssoccer.com/videos?catid=1822&id=16499 Quote
MDZip Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 And it made ESPN's "Not Top Ten Plays of The Week". Ugh. Glad there were a couple awesome Zips goals this week to offset it. Quote
MDZip Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 Poor Perry, he got in another video he'd probably rather not have been part of. This was posted on SI Hotclicks because the Philadelphia Union player who scored mimics the AT&T Flashmob guy. Perry shows up at about 32 seconds in and says what appears to be a word that would be banned on Zipsnation. Doesn't look like Perry was even directly responsible for giving up the goal. Quote

Ha, yeah I watched that game and noticed the same thing. I even mentioned it to lilroodude who was also watching the game. I have to give it to Perry though, despite his mistakes, he has had a heck of a year. He hasn't been really flashy but he has had a huge impact for DC. When he was brought in, I think Ben Olsen would have liked to try him out at D-Mid, where I believe he will shine the best (like he did at Akron) but personnel issues forced him to play exclusively at center back. Then when DC's starting right back suffered a season-ending injury, a new center back was brought in and Perry was forced to play wide. Then last week, due to several injuries and a suspension, Perry was put back in the middle against Columbus, where he had not played in a while with a new defensive partner. He is currently leading DC in minutes played, the only games he didn't play were those he missed for international duty, and the only game he didn't start was the one right after he came back from playing with the U-20s (I think). All of this in his rookie season. Quote

BTW -- I think Perry played mostly RB for the US U-17 teams for a couple years. Quote

And yeah, Chris Pontius was leading the team in minutes until he suffered a season ending injury as well. I hope to see Perry in the Olympics next year. Quote
