ZachTheZip Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 While they haven't gone on a foreign trip or have a bunch of super-hyped unknowns joining the team, the Women's Basketball team should be in for a very good season. Last year we were a BG buzzer-beater away from beating the almighty Falcons and we took a major step toward becoming a winning MAC team with lots of talented underclassmen getting lots of minutes. We're getting close to being able to compete for a MAC championship, which I don't think anyone would have thought possible even five years ago. I don't think many people know about this, but here's the official Zips WBB team blog, updated by the players and coaches. Quote
mes102 Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 An Alumnus of the same school as me, I had the privilege to see her play junior and senior seasons, while bringing home a state title in 2004 her senior year back to our school as the highlight of her high school career. She then went to Dayton, had a decent career, and was the head of basketball operations at Rice last year. She knows how to win, and she expects nothing less. Just announced by Jodi Kest she is on the coaching staff this year. Can't wait to see how this year turns out!!!!!! http://www.gozips.com/sports/wbkb/2011-12/.../20110822shq6z0 Name is Ashley Armstrong...sorry for not clarifying that. In fact, another alumnus of the same school, Tori Arndt, played under Jodi Kest. That 2004 team was loaded. Should of won it the year before too...but whatever, that's the past. We could easily have MAC titles in volleyball, womens soccer, mens soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball, indoor track and field(men's and women's), outdoor track and field(men's and women's), and MAYBE softball (big maybe...i give it a %5 chance of happening) Quote

Who else is there? I also noticed on the 11-12 roster that they have only 13 players -- one short of the scholarship limit. Did K-Coach lose more undergrad ballers? Frosh no-shows? Quote

Florida State coming to Akron! Now if we had this lady on our team -- who reportedly committed to Akron before her senior season of HS, we might be favored in the game. I just want to know, why do website managers put blue font on a blue background? Well, at least ours is just at the top. Recently, I was looking at the Cal Poly Pomona athletic website -- almost impossible to read anything on it! Quote
