InTheZone
OU's getting lit by Buffalo, while we're back to solid defensive play and winning against top notch opponents. Can't gets it from BG, and the Zips my friends, are back on top.
Quickzips
Only thing it shows me really is another illustration of the MAC East teams beating up on one another. But hey, so long as the zips come out on top at the end its all good.
JP Morgan
Buffalo beating Ohio does not make Tuesday a "Fluke." Buffalo is a solid team. Ohio, another solid team, beat us by 3 on their turf. The east is a beast. Going into this three game swing I was hoping for 2 out of 3. Right now we we're 1-1. We need to go into BG and take care of business. No letdowns!

We are the best team in the MAC this season from what I've seen and if we're not dancing in March it's gotta be considered a huge disappointment. zip37
HEY ZONE-- OU IS A GOOD TEAM, ON PAR W/ US, CAN'T STATE & BUFFALO, DON'T SELL THEM SHORT, BUT THEY HAVE IMPLANTED A CANCER IN THEIR PROGRAM (BUBBA) SO I AM PREDICTING THAT IN 3 YRS OU WILL NOT BE A CONTENDER.WBALAL

I guess we can agree that I believe we are the best team in the MAC due to our versatility and depth. Tonights win proves we can score 52 points and win. If you would have told me this afternoon we were going to score 52 points, I would've been nervous.I think we need to reach 20+ wins to have a good shot at an at-large to the dance. I think we can do that with eleven games left. Let's beat BG twice, beat the directional michigans and split the rest. 7 wins out the next 11 doesn't seem to daunting. I'm not hanging my hat on winning the MAC tournament. Its tough to win 3 games in 4 days. someone else gets hot, we get cold....its over. Lets get the 20 wins. I think OU's gonna drop a string of games coming up here. They don't have the depth to play well late in the season and they aren't as talented as Miami, Buffalo, or maybe even Can't.And I'll take 7 out of 11, but let me go so far as to make this bold statement: I don't think we'll lose another MAC game. If we pull that off, I don't think going to the dance will be a problem regardless of what we do in the MAC tourney. I told many of you during football season that that team was special and was going to do big things, and answered to a lot of critics. I see a lot of the same qualities on the court this winter. This team is a lot better than some are giving them credit for.
bigzipguy
Inthezone I am happy about the win over Miami, but not losing another MAC game????CMON!!!!!! Not only would they have to win all home contests, but: 1.) win at Can't 2.) win at Miami 3.) win at Buffalo 4.) win at B.G
MRasor0200
I agree with BigZipGuy.I'd be very pleased if Akron wins two out of the road games against Miami, Can't State, BG and Buffalo. My guess is the Zips will beat BG and Buffalo. Can't State has had Akron's number recently. And don't forget the Bracket Buster. Akron will be on the road against a good team.Only if Akron is 22-7 before the MAC Tournament, then they lose the championship game, will I think there's a chance for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.Let's not forget that the MAC's RPI is lower than usual this year. I agree with you Mike, but because the NCAA selection committee has so little respect for the MAC, I think in order for an at large team to come out of our conference it will take 23 or 24 wins. Very unfair, but the big conference money boys will only select teams like us if they have no other choice.
Valpo Zip
I agree with Mike, 22-7 before the MAC tournament should be good and then i don't think that we will loose our first game at the Gund (if we loose at all)... To summarize, the next two weeks are huge, extremely huge !!! and the game at BG on sunday will make a big difference in the end (being a road winnable game) and yet i don't see any body in this forum who is enthused to drive there and cheer for our team is there ? fear the brown roo
forget about an at large birth. this is the MAC and we're akron. we don't have the respect YET from those who don't know us. we may be very deserving but that won't mean much. besides, we're going to win the MAC. :macc: in football, soon to be :macc: in basketball
