mes102
In my opinion, the one Michigan player was offsides and it should of been called dead right there. Instead, it wasn't and the ball went to the one Michigan player who chipped it over Meves... Of course the BTN didn't mention it because they were bias towards Michigan all night because of it being...hence, The Big Ten Network. Didn't play well tonight. Great job by Meves and Barson tonight. Can't do it by themselves...
mes102
Also, I'm losing patience with Mattocks. Not really happy with his decision making in the final third. His footwork is a glaring weakness In my humble opinion...

Also said play from Yedlin to Quinn when he hit the post should have ended it.

Really close tonight. Tough loss. Hopefully we get a close matchup for the Elite Eight game so we can drive to the match.
Roogangs
POTG: Meves and Barson. Meves multiple saves which kept us in it. Barson at least 2 sliding blocks, header cleared of line, header off post, near assist to Mattocks. With all that being said the loss kind of makes it a wash. I watched the goal a million times and the Michigan guy was off by at least 2 yards and kicked it out of Meves hand which then went rigth to the guy who chipped it in. oh well cant cry forever. bobbyake
don't let this loss get you down, this is a young team. Come playoffs, we have a shot to make some noise. Tailgate for the next game?? I will look into getting a keg of Thirsty Dog Pumpkin Ale for it.

zip37
The only thing worse than letting a team get back into a game, is to not beat them when you have the superior team.
Crew8
Its a loss, Akron did not look good, we're not in sync, no flow, it looks rough and forced. We should've won in the first 90 minutes, no excuses. We're not the team from last season and our team needs us more than ever. This is the time to step up and support and chant your team on to victory. Buffalo on the road is not a option for most of us, but Bowling Green at home is. If you're not a AK-Rowdy member or if you are, all ages, show up at Lot 9, and lets take this to the next level. Beer, food, and rukus! Tailgate Wed. 10/26 as early as 5pm We shall not lose again. Go Zips!

I was certified as a USSF Grade 7 referee a couple years ago, and that was never mentioned in either the Grade 9 class, or the bridge class for Grade 8 or Grade 7. Basically, we spent a half an hour on offsides, and I wrote down every letter, number, abbreviation, and everything else about offsides they talked about because I didn't want to screw those calls up. I knew there would be a lot fans that wouldn't understand the complexion of offsides. Looking through my notes, I can't find any exception to offsides if the defending team passes it backwards. Can someone please send me a link with that rule. Must be a new rule...From what I've always known, is that if the player that is in the offsides position is in the area of activity on the field, then he's ruled as being offsides. According to this picture, he's certainly in the thick of it...http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-...236699891_n.jpg
mes102
Other than a select few tonight, I feel everyone else played bad. But just because we played bad, can't mean we can't be mad about the supposedly offsides call or the shot that looked to go over the line, but a Michigan defender headed it out...Last night was bizarre, but I have a strategic questions:1) Where was Mayer at last night? I feel we need to put Stevenson in the midfield where Holmes was at, and have Holmes come off the bench. Put Mayer at LB and Gallego at LOB. Have Yedlin at his usual ROB and Barson ar RB.I know Coach Porter knows more about soccer than I will ever know even though I've breathed soccer for about 15 years. Just wondering why Stevenson isn't used more in the midfield where we're having trouble at the most. Caldwell hasn't been sharp, and I feel we need another player in the midfield that has some experience from last year, which Stevenson had... jem101
Doing a bit of quick research, it looks like it all depends on if you view Yedlin's pass is a controlled one. If it was a controlled pass, then he's not off. If it isn't a controlled pass, then the he is off. Obviously, this wasn't a controlled pass. Obviously, this wasn't a controlled pass.He should have cleared the ball with his left foot, eliminating any issues. However, after speaking with him, the ball actually redirected off the foot of the Michigan player after he touched it. It should have been offside. Regardless, it took an outrageous finish to score.
