tonite's match

Brenes has had some wildly errant and unnecessary attempts on goal from distance. We have definitely outplayed MSU but we haven't had any urgency in the offensive end. Only a small handful of good scoring opportunities and MSU's goal made some outstanding saves! The 48 game home unbeaten streak is over. It had to happen sometime.I just get the feeling that we are too young and inexperienced for this to be another Final Four year. What a good problem to have!

To me, this team just doesn't seem to play with the same passion and urgency as Caleb Porter squads of previous seasons. Sure, we are young, but when we play our game with composure, everything is fine. But we don't close out games well, we don't play with enough precision in the offensive end, and we are inconsistent. Tonight epitomized all of those things.Oh well, anything can happen in the Tournament, and I have supreme confidence in Coach Porter.

I would like to apologize to my professors for cursing them under my breath that they had conspired to give me two exams and a presentation tomorrow. Instead, I should have been thanking them for forcing me to stay at home and study instead of going to the game. In all seriousness though. This is really disappointing. Hopefully we can make a deep run in the tourney anyways and end up with short drives to the away games. Go Zips!

I hope this loss sparks a National Title run. I was at the far corner of the field and had a good view of that goal that was disallowed. Very tough call, but I believe it was in. The foul outside the box in the 2nd half was also in the box when it happend. None of these things matter, no excuses for letting Michigan State have a chance to win this.

I have nothing, disappointing loss tonight. I was alongside bobbyake for the disallowed goal. Tough call on the line from my point of view, although I thought it was in. I still feel Akron needs to find a way to score goals in the first half and put the pressure on the opponent. It just doesn't seem to be the case this year, but it rather seems we wait for the second half. Need to quit with trying to make the next perfect pass in the box and pound it in on goal in or outside the box. Instead of trying to create the perfect pass in the first half, leading to a second half scramble to get anything on goal.

The magic is over; the spell has been broken. It was foolish to believe we could ride this wave forever. When was the last home loss? vs. South florida in the 2007 NCAA tournament? Anyone?Pardon me while I peruse the view from the Y bridge.

It figures that a blown call would kill that one last gasp of "Pouch Magic" that we tried to summon in the final minutes too. I wish i could see a view from atop the press box of that ball going 2 feet past the line...then again I don't need to get worked up all over again. But we can't fret quite yet. We still have the second season and as I witnessed in Buffalo and all of us have witnessed at various points this season, this team can turn it on at any moment and just MASSACRE people. We have tons of talent and a great coach, and I bet we will be laughing at this in two weeks when we are drubbing on some unlucky second round opponent. GO ZIPS
