Rodney Carroll spent this past season as an offensive and defensive lineman with Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham. He’s expected to play on the defensive line for the Zips. Rodney Carroll also had scholarship offers from Hampton, Howard, Delaware State and Bethune–Cookman. He’ll enroll at Akron in January, his father said. Carroll added that his son joined Hargrave’s program after graduating from Orange in June with hopes of earning a scholarship to a Football Bowl Subdivision school. “He wanted more exposure,” Carroll said. “He thought he could do it.”
