johnnyzip84 Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 It sounds like Pohl had a bit of a "learning experience" today, as the defense played with more fire than they have up to this point. AKRON, Ohio – A 70-play full contact scrimmage was the focus of day nine of The University of Akron football team's spring training camp inside Stile Athletics Field House on Saturday. Scrimmage Noteables... Offense: • QB Clayton Moore connected with WR A.J. Price, including a 40-yard touchdown strike up the middle of the field. • WR Dee Frieson scored a TD off a screen pass from QB Dalton Williams. • QB Kyle Pohl connected with WR Keith Sconiers on a 30-yard pass into coverage down the left sideline. Defense: • The defense had four sacks and one fumble recovery. LB Jamar Williams recovered a ball fumbled by RB Jawon Chisholm. • Safety Bre' Ford posted a pair of interceptions. One came off a tipped balled along the right sideline and the other near the middle of the field. • LB Justin March was credited with one INT, snatching a pass from Pohl. • DL James Price batted down a Pohl pass at the line of scrimmage. Special Teams: • P/K A.J. Fox converted a 22-yard field goal attempt. Quote
NewZipsFan Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 Here's the link ... spring practice report - April 7 It all sounded pretty good to me - except for the turnovers... But it's hard to really be too concerned about that because one of the most important stats in football is FORCED Turnovers (more so than TO margin). So even though the offense gave up the turnovers, our defense forced them Quote

So even though the offense gave up the turnovers, our defense forced them I agree. I'm encouraged that the defense is "catching up" to the offense. It should be the other way around so I'll put that in the positive column. The defense has seen this offense a lot now so I would expect them to force some turnovers at this point in the spring season. Good stuff! Quote
K92 Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 I would be interested to know who got the sacks. Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted April 8, 2012 Author Report Posted April 8, 2012 I would be interested to know who got the sacks. Courtesy of some more excellent GT reporting, Cody Grice had 2 of the 4. Bowden has singled out Presley, James Price and Cody on the DL in recent days. Quote
