fear the brown roo Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 absolutely to jim jones. no disrespect meant in the description of the man with the ring. just pointing out that it's not just players and coaches who deserve a ring. Quote
zippyrifle32 Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 Just to clear something up that 80 year old man you saw in the stands isn't just some fan or booster they gave a ring. That's Jim Jones, a man who has devoted his life to Zips football and basketball academics and who keeps the players eligible through countless hours of tutoring. He's been like a father to a lot of Zips players and is probably more responsible for this championship than some of the coaches because he's the reason a lot of these guys are even able to stay in school. I think if anyone deserves a ring it's him. not only that but the guy goes to almost every home game no matter what sport it is. i agree with inthezone on this, that guy had just as big of a part in that championship as the people who were actually on the field. GP1 Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 so GP1, what do you think? Do you really want to know? This could get ugly. Quote
fear the brown roo Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 so GP1, what do you think? Do you really want to know? This could get ugly. absolutely. i don't think there is a wrong answer to this. i can see in the purest sense that only players and coaches get rings but that's not how it works. many people associated with the team gets them, some employess of the university, some not. i can agree with this as everyone is involved in the team effort. i didn't think this would spark such interest. i just thought it would be cool for hardcore super fans and family to be able to get something (not neccessarily the exact ring and not for free) to show their pride in winning the mac. if i have to settle for the hat and shirts, fine. Beanie 4 Heisman Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Tons of people got rings every player, coach, trainer, video staff, manager, doctor, and anyone else who helps the team. they all deserve it. all of these people spend lots of time helping the team get done what it needs to get done.
