AkronURocks Posted March 13, 2006 Author Report Posted March 13, 2006 They just showed it on ESPNU.Temple is seeded higher, so they host. They showed it VERY fast. No date or gametime. Quote
RowdyZip Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 so much for "first time live television announcement on ESPNU, ESPNnews" Quote
AkronURocks Posted March 13, 2006 Author Report Posted March 13, 2006 It was pretty pathetic and VERY fast. Temple is a 7, Akron is an 8. The winner will play at the 2 seed from that region in the next round, but I can't remember who that is, it happened so fast. They said the higher seeded team will be at home in all cases except for Vanderbilt due to a conflict with the facility. Quote
liljc Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 The winner gets Creighton if I remember correctly. Quote
ziptrumpet87 Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 NIT.org has the bracket up now (PDF format). Quote
Z-Pouch Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Weird - Mimai, Ohio gets a 7 seed and home game. Quote
AkronURocks Posted March 13, 2006 Author Report Posted March 13, 2006 Game is apparently Tuesday. Winner plays Creighton on Friday.Miami got in, no Toledo. Wouldn't see Cinci until Championship game at the Garden. Quote
zipsbandman Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 That's really fair. Miami gets a home game and a 7th seed while we get to get pounded in Philly. Nice to see us in a postseason bracket I guess. How long until football season? Quote
JP Morgan Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 The boys can either take their aggression out on the owls.....or fold and 'wait till next year.' They talked all year about goals and getting monkey's off their back.....winning this game would get a monkey off their back! Quote
Z-Pouch Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Yikes -- All of their guards are 6'5"...... Quote
Steuby_UAkron Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Atleast we got into the Not In Tournament. Quote
zipsbandman Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Look at Temple's roster. No way we compete against that. Quote

Home game with Butler to boot -- Can't State had a tight game with Butler but ended up winning after a Haynes 3 pt buzzer beater sent it into OT. Quote
Balki Bartokomous Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Thank god the 18-10 Redhawks got a 7 seed. I was worried the NIT would forget about the POWER HOUSE Miami (OH) team. The NIT selection board can go to hell. Quote
RowdyZip Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 temple is winnable.look at some of the teams they've lost to!GEEZ! where's the optimism people?P.S. Looks like no tv...unless ESPNU picks it up. Really would like to catch this one on tv...maybe another paninis party? Quote
AkronURocks Posted March 13, 2006 Author Report Posted March 13, 2006 I agree we should have gotten a home game, but I am not surprised we will have to travel (likely tomorrow?) and play on the road Tuesday. Anyone who thinks we deserved a bye (Rasor) is nuts. Sorry, I like reading your column, but thats just crazy. The boys will give them their best....lets just hope its one of the TV games and if nothing else we get some more exposure. Quote
MRasor0200 Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 AkronURocks,If Joe Lunardi is "nuts" when it comes to college basketball, I'll gladly join that category.http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/columns/stor..._joe&id=2350229 Quote
the BIG POPS Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 It also seems odd that the 7 and 9 seeds host games, yet 8 & 10 travel...I would think that 7 & 8 seeds would have the play-in home game...? Quote
RooWho? Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Wow, that's tough...you guys SHOULD have gotten a home game...Temple is a decent team too...you can do it and if you win, you get Creighton...not a stellar team, we've beaten them years past in bracketbusters...Either way, I'm rooting for you guys! Enough of this one-bid crap, let's make some noise! Quote
gss11 Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Another NCAA snub for the MAC Conference, but at least they will play another day. Quote
OZoner Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Congrats on the NIT invite, everyone. Quote
