fknbuflobo
Am I the only one who was impressed with Abdul Salam on the wing opposing Yedlin? He looked nervous at times and it shows that he was only playing his 2 career game? but the man will be a great asset for the future I was waiting for someone to comment on this. I give a mixed review on Abdul-Salaam at LB, especially at OSU. He seemed tentative to go to the end line for the cross, lacking confidence in his left-footed service. Instead, he cut it back for the drop pass almost every time. It got to the point that the OSU defense would anticipate his cut-back rather than his cross. It is entirely possible that he grows further into this position. His athleticism, ball skill, and pace are obvious. The undeniable talent of Abdul-Salaam notwithstanding, the best option I have seen at LB this year is Derschang, a natural lefty. The one match Derschang played at LB rendered a dozen left footed crosses, similar to Yedlin from RB position. Derschang is also the more physically rugged of the two. And Derschang is nearly as fast as Yedlin on the straight sprint. Regardless, Abdul-Salaam deserves significant PT somewhere on the pitch, even coming off the bench. I suspect his best position is L Wing/Forward. Good things are definitely ahead for this young man.
bigzipguy
Look at the highlights near the end of the match. It was #25 Salaam who kicked the ball out of play after Meves had blocked out close -in shot attempt , but was then out of position due to his diving attempt. I really want that left-footed cross from the end-line. Give me that, and I vote Abdul-Salaam in starting 11 at LB.
jem101
I thought Salaam played some pretty good defense, but I agree with the others on his lack of crosses into the box. I have to admit I questioned Porter when Salaam came out and he shifted Serna to LB. His small stature had me scared against a big team like OSU. I would have rather seen Derschang go to LB. Who am I to question Porter though!
bobbyake
Abdul-Salaam adds a much needed height advantage for offensive and defensive set pieces.

Ando
I'd like to see the big guy at forward at some point, which is, you know, what he ostensibly is without wanting to sound too taylor twellman, I wouldn't at all mind seeing the zips go 4-4-2 next year, with Salam partnering with Koroma up top. Mouth-watering stuff.

Mouth-watering stuff. How dare you suggest 4-4-2! System continuity is ostensibly the reason Jared Embick was promoted. Long live Total Futbol! But seriously, if Zips were to ever revert to a 4-4-2 system, those two up top would be the choice... definitely.
