Dave in Green
Pretty remarkable similarity in depth between these two teams, with both playing 11 deep. The most obvious difference is that the top 4 Zips average fewer minutes per game than the top 4 Kitties while the next 7 Zips average more minutes per game than the next 7 Kitties. ZIPS ... AVG MIN PER GAME ... KITTIES Abreu ........ 29.158 - 30.700 .... Cooper Marshall ..... 25.895 - 29.850 ...... Offutt Treadwell ... 25.688 - 28.050 ...... Baltic Walsh ........ 23.579 - 25.900 .... Kellogg Kretzer ...... 22.105 - 20.700 ...... Keely Harney ...... 18.750 - 17.150 ...... Smith Gilliam ...... 18.588 - 13.474 ... Johnson Ibitayo ...... 13.389 - 11.563 .... Wilkins Forsythe .... 13.368 - 11.421 ......... Hall McAdams ... 11.500 - 10.100 ...... Taylor Betancourt ... 9.789 -- 7.000 ...... RootforRoo44
I just don't get the obsession these people have with ZipsNation. Isn't there an Ohio U place somewhere online? I think it has to do with the color scheme of ZN.o...I hear it's "incredible" to look at when high. But seriously, OU may play 10 guys at 10 min+ each, but that doesn't mean depth. It could mean that their coach isn't too smart and plays too many weak players too many minutes, that they've had injuries/huge cold streaks to some of their players and needed to have others fill in roles, or many other reasons. Point is, I've watched three Ohio games in entirety this season, and no sober person would claim that they are deeper or equally deep as Akron. Oh and btw, that Sweet 16 run isn't the end-all to all arguments.
dboze
But seriously, OU may play 10 guys at 10 min+ each, but that doesn't mean depth. Here's a stat - Ohio has 5 players averaging 5+ points per game, Akron has 7 players averaging 5+ points per game. Depth = Production. If they are not producing when they are on the court, they are just bodies taking up minutes.

GoZips
And Ohio doesn't have depth? More than Akron does. Our coach has dominated the MAC. Gosh, you mean that he still ......CHEATS?
GJGood
PLEASE make this happen! Nothing in the college basketball world would make me happier than to beat Columbus in the tournament. Agreed but I'd rather do it in, say, the round of 16 than the round of 64 in the tourney. That would make me happiest of all.
Dave in Green
There's quantity of depth and then there's quality of depth.
Sergeant Zip
Yes, because we have no depth. Ricardo Johnson and TJ Hall are incredible off the bench. Stevie Taylor is a spark and as you saw last year smoked Akron. Our starting center from last year (sweet 16 team) now comes off the bench. A three point sharp shooter and a new transfer forward. We returned everyone from last year. We most definitely have more depthRicardo Johnson injured and his career is likely over after he suffered a double leg fracture in OU's win at UNC-Asheville.
