K92 Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Pretty nice turnout for the pizza party/Q&A with Coach Bowden tonight. Terry spoke for about 25 minutes and took questions from those in attendance. Some of the highlights: This year's recruiting class will end up being 22 players once the greyshirts, transfers, jucos & walk-ons are all counted. Mentioned the Tallmadge QB as a walk-on (commented on his superior arm strength) & also mentioned a walk-on from St. V (no name mentioned). When asked whether the no-huddle scheme would return on offense, Coach said they will not waffle on that. They are committed to running the system that evolved out of Texas Tech. He mentioned that the Zips need to emulate Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Baylor, Texas A&M, & Louisiana Tech. Pass first, but run the ball much more effectively. He said he would like to see the Zips run for 200 yards/game. Mentioned KP16 runs a 4.6 40 & needs to be able to make quick decisions to run for first downs when the space is there. Reiterated his pleasure that the entire staff came back even though some coaches were offered jobs at other schools. He said that Dalton Williams is going to be helping coach as well. He was asked his philosophy on inside/outside receivers: Said that the offense really needs tall guys outside with speed and that Traylor Bennett & Wolff fit that prototype he is looking for. He said on the inside he wants either bigger sturdy guys like D'Orazio or squirts like Tyler Williams. He said that L.T. Smith is moving inside. Reading between the lines I would say the freshmen are going to get their shot at playing outside. KP16 is the QB heir apparent, but it isn't like he is a multiple year returning starter and as always, there will be competition for that position. They are going to have a ladies-only "Football 101" seminar in June or July. I am sure I missed a couple of things, but those are some of the high points. Quote

GP1 Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 They are going to have a ladies-only "Football 101" seminar in June or July. I'm glad they are going to continue to do this. There is no reason they can't have this event AND a golf outing. Women are the fastest growing fan base for football. Why not capture this growing demographic if you can? I'm all for it. Quote
