Dave in Green Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 @GoZips, you are so right. The MAC rule may not prohibit intra-conference transfers, but it sure does inhibit them. The NCAA rule says players have a 5-year window to complete 4 years of eligibility. In addition to taking away a year of athletic scholarship in the first year of an intra-conference transfer, the MAC rule also takes away a year of eligibility, leaving only 3. I guess that makes it the Bubba for 3 Rule. Quote

GoZips Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 John Groce still leaving ripples in the MAC: Darius Paul headed to Illinois per the article: "Paul is the third transfer Illinois has received since the end of the season. Illinois State junior forward Jon Ekey and Seton Hall sophomore guard Aaron Cosby also recently opted for the Illini." A wee bit of enticing and/or tampering going on at Illinois? Makes me wonder. I guess if there's something there we'll find out eventually, but for now I'll say this makes sense. Groce is a good coach, Big Ten BBall is high profile right now, and Illinois has a good program. Seton Hall has a nice program too, but I'd say all three players are moving on to a larger stage. Quote
