I've wondered for a while why Belgium doesn't do better in Europe and international competition. Kompany, Benteke, the Hazards (Eden injured), Mignolet in goal and the Sunderland attacker (not in the listed pool). They should be a serious WC contender, but they never make it through. Will any of the BPL players be on the field for USA? What's the TV sked?

I doubt TV will carry this.

I'll be down there getting my mind right at 3. I have had tickets twice to see the USMNT but unexpected events caused me to miss both matches. Here is to hoping nothing gets in my way this time. See you guys at the game.

other than the elephant in the room, no real snubs then

I woulda liked to see Josh Gatt but whatevs

edit: oh shoot no Paco. Is Torres hurt or is he just out of form?

Don't think so, he's been playing for Tigres as they were just knocked out of the Liga MX playoffs a few days ago. Surely he will be on the Gold Cup squad in July.

horrible performance, but an awesome time!!!

I never said it was not fun!

Even with that deplorable performance, I would still go again. I just hate spending all that money for a rotten egg.

I feel that I should have gone a few streets over to Progressive Field. It would have been more entertaining for a fraction of the cost.

I was certainly entertained and I definitely had a fantastic time. Going into the match, I knew it was going to be difficult from the beginning. Missing players like Bradley, Fabian Johnson, and Danny Williams who are key to the US success. US Soccer still lacks depth in top quality talent and it showed Wednesday evening, but they played strong for 60 minutes. It was 1-1 at the half. It could've been worse. As a West Brom follower, Lukaku is a beast. Overall, I certainly like to see a better performance, but it's also a Friendly. Lots of goals, but in the wrong net. I had a grand time. I wonder what the response would be if it was a 0-0 draw from the average fans.

Aside from all that, NE Ohio and other surrounding areas proved their is a market for soccer. 27,720. That's remarkable for a Wednesday evening Friendly, competing against a Tribe game, and not against one of the central america teams that always have lots of traveling support.

For American soccer perhaps the best news was found in the stands. The crowd filled the stadium’s lower bowl and supplied a good atmosphere with the American Outlaws supporters group inhabiting the Dawg Pound. The soccer match outdrew the Indians and Reds at Progressive Field by more 9,700 fans.

“The experience was wonderful, the support was wonderful,” Klinsmann said. “It was a great crowd.”

On Tuesday, Browns CEO Joe Banner said he would like to attract other major soccer matches to the stadium in coming years. He knew Wednesday night provided a test of regional support and a chance to show the international soccer community that Cleveland’s interest in the sport runs deeper than Drew Carey. In the past decade, large European club teams routinely have barnstormed North America and the stadium’s new operators might want a piece of the action.
