zippy_ua_00
From the look of your post(s) I'm guessing said fan was you? I find it bad form to go onto an opponents board and gloat after a tough loss as we would have all been feeling the same way had the same thing happened to the Zips. Losing at home to a hated rival when you were up by nine late in regulation and then by six late in OT? That's a stomach punch loss. Kudos to the Zips for never quitting. I think Jake Kretzer always torturing (torching?) them in their own building is punishment enough. Doesn't look like a domiant team anywhere in the conference so looks like the Zips will likely be in the thick of things once again. I don't think a 14-4 is out of the question. Ohio isn't fabulous but beating them at thier place (only twice in the last 22 MAC games there has that happened, and both were by the Zips) is a good win. Wouldn't count OU out either. Toledo looked like they might be the class of the league but WMU brought the down to earth, but then they they barely beat Miami on the road (but maybe Miami is better). Buffalo is the only other 2-0 team but their two wins are EMU and NIU both at home. Nice start for the Zips to win two on the road. And Ndour looks like he is a helluva player. No I was not said fan. I keep the same name on every board that I visit that way it can be traced back to here.
Dave in Green
Thank YOU Dave. It is a pleasure reading your posts and having discussions with you. What you're stating about being too critical of one's own coach is absolutely correct. You'll never ever see me complain about Senderoff being out coached or Jim Christian failing to draw a play. On the other hand, If KD was the second best coach in the world, I am going to point at his shortcomings in hopes that he will become the best. I just wanted to follow up and say how much I appreciate your passion for Zips basketball. Misinterpretation is common on forums. For example, criticisms of Coach Dambrot can be misinterpreted as being mean-spirited attacks, and questioning of perceived attacks can be misinterpreted as being overprotective. You've made it crystal clear that you're not a basher but a concerned fan who only wants the best for Coach Dambrot and the Zips. I also wanted to make sure you had read the George Thomas story about the lack of communication that's been hurting the Zips this season. It goes into detail about previous Zips teams having better chemistry than this season. Among all the interesting points made by the players in that story is a quote from Coach Dambrot that specifically addresses the blown play the Zips tried to execute against OU at the end of regulation: “You can’t be a good team if you can’t communicate,” he said. “We butchered the last play in regulation. That’s a communication issue. I’m not saying when you communicate those things don’t happen. They do, but they’re minimized.”
