GJGood Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Are we going to beat these guys tonight? What does everyone think the key will be to a victory tonight?I know we can't expect to put 90 on them again, can we? I guarantee that unless we have half the team foul out we don't give up 96.A win tonight coupled with an OU loss (which could easily happen but I think will not) means the Zips start the MAC tourney in as the #4 seed in Cleveland. I'd love to see that, then the players could just focus on the next opponent because of who that opponent is and not face the pressure of still trying to earn that last bye. Quote
tomzip Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 I can only hope Tree falls on Hurley and we all will hear it! Quote
GJGood Posted March 4, 2014 Author Report Posted March 4, 2014 Well, I won't go that far (Tree falling comment above) but I will say that I really liked Witherspoon and feel like he deserved better than what he got up there. When he was there I would always think if Akron doesn't win the MAC that the Bulls wouldn't be a terrible option to follow in the postseason.Hurley, was probably the player I could stand less than any other back when I was watching college basketball as a kid. Heck, he even looked like the kid my ex-girlfriend ended up with after we broke up. It figures he'd show up in the MAC. Now two of my least favorite coaches of all time, Hurley as well as Christian, reside not only in the conference but in the East Division. I am not saying Hurley is a bad coach just that he rubs me the wrong way and always has. While I'll always be a Zip through and through, I used to call Buffalo my second favorite in the MAC East but not any more, at least for the time being. ZachTheZip Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Hurley comes in with a reputation for being a punk, and letting his players act similarly. Quote
skip-zip Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Yes, even Joe Dunn commented about Hurley's behavior after the road game at Buffalo. This is a call-out to the Rowdies over by the Buffalo Bench:YOU GUYS BETTER BE GETTING ALL OVER THAT JERK TONIGHT !! Quote
UAZip0510 Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Yes, even Joe Dunn commented about Hurley's behavior after the road game at Buffalo. This is a call-out to the Rowdies over by the Buffalo Bench:YOU GUYS BETTER BE GETTING ALL OVER THAT JERK TONIGHT !!This is where I wish more than a small group of students would be there...but we'll save that topic for the other thread Quote
tomzip Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Not a big crowd, 6 minutes to tip off, some suny buffalo fans here Quote
tomzip Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Hurley already making a buffoon out of himself Quote
Dave in Green Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Sorry I couldn't make it to the JAR tonight, but I'm delighted at the energy the Zips are showing, Great hustle from Deji. Quote
tomzip Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 First game I have been to in a while, lot of energy from zips, the mustache is in uniform, Kretzer is not Quote
Dave in Green Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Now it gets really tough. Tree on the bench with 3 fouls with 7 minutes left in the first half.EDIT: Huge relief as TV comes back from the timeout and says the foul was on Nick and not Tree. Quote
tomzip Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Hurley complains on every call, half way out on the court and takes it to the "t" level a lot, refs are afraid of him Quote
Dave in Green Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 I want to see Hurley go one-on-one with Bo Boroski. Maybe at the Q. Quote
tomzip Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Bo would not stand for another show boat other than himself on the sane court, seeing this in person, they will rival Can't for most hated team with him as the coach Quote
tomzip Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 I like pat, but he is worthless right now, bulls will be tough to beat Quote
Dave in Green Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Gut check time. Tree on the bench with 4 fouls and 8 minutes to play. Others have to step up. Quote
Dave in Green Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 The Zips (especially Q) have Tree's back! Quote
Balsy Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 I really, really, really, really like how the Zips played today. They played the style of basketball we all knew they are capable of playing. Quote
Dave in Green Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Free love is a philosophy, isn't it? Anyway, the Zips played a great game to beat a tough Buffalo squad -- outshot them, outrebounded them and gave up fewer turnovers. I like the way they're coming together as tournament time approaches. Q was a monster. Quote
GJGood Posted March 5, 2014 Author Report Posted March 5, 2014 I am already pumped for Friday night! What more could you ask for from this season? The arch nemesis on your home floor with a bye in the tourney on the line as well as the 20-game wins streak! That atmosphere has to be electric Friday night! Quote
skip-zip Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Our best game of the year, and still a little short handed. Outstanding. This is what scares me about Buffalo:We need to score 80 to beat them. That's asking a lot of our offense. But, we've done it against them twice. I have to wonder if we'd be capable of shooting like that again, if we have to play them in Cleveland. Quote
