zipproud
I get home after a terrible loss turn on the TV to see other programs playing true freshman and competing. Clemson gave Florida State (I know Winston was out) all they could handle with a true freshman QB, Vandy gave South Carolina all they could handle with a ton of true freshman starting (just to mention a few). We recruit these highly touted kids why aren't we getting them ready. If we are going to lose games this bad why not get these kids on the field and get them some experience so next year they are that much better. Look at Tennessee, Kentucky these are teams that are rebuilding, put on these games and there are several true freshman playing. These teams are getting ready for the future to be competitive. Does anyone know where the Boxen kid is. I thought he had a great scrimmage and I haven't seen him since. Just a thought, I would love to see some of the kids develop over the four years we have them.Disappointing loss but still believe in the ZIPS!!!!!Seven win season!!!!GO ZIPS!!!! Clemson gave Florida State (I know Winston was out) all they could handle with a true freshman QB, Anything that Dabo does is stupid. Starting a true freshman in a game that was easily winnable is a perfect example of his stupidity. Dabo is a dummy and a fraud.Vandy gave South Carolina all they could handle with a ton of true freshman starting (just to mention a few). This is funny. Until when? SC smashed them in the end. What are these players learning? The Vandy coach walked into, actually it was a horrible hiring decision, a good program and is destroying it. He is taking a program, replacing experienced upper classmen who understood winning with froshs and teaching them how to lose. We need to run away from this kind of thinking. We recruit these highly touted kids why aren't we getting them ready. For what? We need to win this year. This is the mentality high school football fans have. Start a frosh QB and four years down the road you win the state championship. It goes on all the time and fails most of the time. It's stupid management of a program if you are looking to win every year.If we are going to lose games this bad why not get these kids on the field and get them some experience so next year they are that much better. Because this isn't the type of experience they need right now. Being overwhelmed by a better team is not a good learning experience. What they need is to learn the college game and physical development before they can be asked to step in and make a meaningful contribution against a quality team like Marshall. Look at Tennessee, Kentucky these are teams that are rebuilding, put on these games and there are several true freshman playing. These teams are getting ready for the future to be competitive. First of all, we are already competitive. Tennessee has traditionally been an average program. Went through a few good years with Manning and Martin, but has never been that good of a program. Kentucky? The players playing for Kentucky today will be collecting Social Security before Kentucky finishes second in their Division. They aren't rebuilding for anything. They are creating an illusion for themselves and their fans that better days are down the road. They aren't for these programs.Seven win season!!!! Not if they play freshmen to "get them some experience".
Buckzip
Watson didn't start. He was brought in after Stout played poorly.

Not if they play freshmen to "get them some experience". I almost forgot that the last two Heisman winners were Seniors oops my bad they were both red shirt freshman. Who lead their teams to great seasons. It's not about getting these young men experience for the future, it's about getting your best talent on the field. I'm not saying throw the towel in by any means I still believe we will win 7 games. I am just saying there are some talented young men on this roster that could potentially make us a better football team.
K92
As a general rule, I am for the redshirting of linemen, especially on offense to get them an extra year of strength conditioning and technique experience, but if there are "skill" players that can contribute as freshmen, they should play.
