ziptrumpet87
Leader Publications - West Side Leader (West Akron weekly newspaper) articleI wonder what property theThe Controlling Board also released $70,000 to assist UA with purchasing real estate in the southeast corner of campus for future development, according to Coughlin. is referring to... sounds like one of the Exchange Street "stadium" properties. Valpo Zip
I am not 100% sure but i guess that this would be the soccer field off brown st.
Charles_in_Charge
If the money is flowing in so well and the fundraising group is setting new records why is this project not near being complete as was written in the Saturday paper? I would also like to know why the football stadium project is not public. From everything I heard a late last fall at the Motor City Bowl the fundraising had reached 17M and an announcement was pending. Now we are 8+ months since the bowl game and nothing is public. What is the real story?
zipsbandman
Is this new administration the answer in bringing us to the promised land? What has really been done to show us otherwise? I know the administration is relatively new, but first impressions are everything, and all I know is we have quality coaches in basketball and football who still make among the lowest in the league. Where is all the marketing? Why is fear the roo not all over Akron...for the defending MAC champs no less? Why is parking now an arm and a leg? Is that a way to promote attendance? Why is there a goal to add another nonrevenue budget draining sport that nobody cares about? And where is the evidence that this stadium project is progressing? Moral of the story.....what the heck is going on here?
GP1
Why is parking now an arm and a leg? Is that a way to promote attendance? It costs $5 to park at a game. Is this really an arm and a leg? If someone tells you they will not go to a game because it costs $5, please call that person a liar and ask them why they really don't want to go. UADavid
Where is all the marketing? Why is fear the roo not all over Akron...for the defending MAC champs no less?Good questions. Why no mention of the team in the sunday bj? Nice article about Tyrell Sutton who played at Akron Hoban. Why not open the college football coverage with the hometown defending MAC champion University of Akron Zips?
AZipsCrazy
I'll second that... what is going on??? I just have two things I want to see...1) Sign J.D. with decent money (Put him in the top 20% in the MAC)2) Announce some type of progress on the StadiumReally shouldn't be too much to ask
ziptrumpet87
While having lunch today, my wife overheard a conversation between two people (one high-up UA person, another a high-up businessman in the area) regarding the stadium. According to UA guy, they need to have $30 mil to announce it and are "in the 20's". Also, the site is as has been reported (NE corner of Union and Exchange). Some of the property owners are holding out for more $$$ following the "leaking of the site location" (leak? it was in the Beacon Journal a few years ago with concept pictures!) and it probably will require eminant domain. zipper
I heard we had 17 mil raised before Thomas left. So maybe we're making progress?
