Akronzips8
Shell game. Just wait until the Academic Partnerships deal is signed and JAR joins the Big East. More online learning and sports to be cut. Go big or go home. #olivejarseesthefuture

skip-zip
I have a few thoughts...1) I hated that the NCAA made this ruling. I think it's a move to push all of the "non-big schools" aside. 2) The fact that we are going to do it shows that we want to try to remain competitive, and that's not bad news. It's an investment in making sure that we are out there recruiting athletes with the same "financial package" that others can offer. 3) It still sucks because it's something that was forced upon us, and we have no choice.4) At least the NLRB "Unionization" ruling went our way the other day. Glad to see that someone believes that a Free College Education is a great deal to play a sport, and that setting the stage for college athletes to collect some of the money made by their schools is a horrible idea from a competitive standpoint.
Dave in Green
I think someone previously posted that the $700k saved by eliminating baseball was going to be reallocated within the athletics department. This may be that reallocation. If UA had kept baseball the athletics budget would have been going up at a time when other areas were being cut.

If cutting baseball is the cost for us to compete in football and basketball then I am all for it. If other MAC schools dont follow it definitely gives us a recruiting advantage.
