Ryno aka Menace
Even though CMU, Toledo, and Miami lost they all played some decent opponents and gave a pretty good showing, Toledo could have won their game easily and with better coaching decisions CMU, IMO should have won. I know after some watched CMU last night everyone has some concerns about that team, I am just gonna say this we will give a good showing against Penn State this Saturday as well, and believe me we will put some fear/concern in our opponents as well. The MAC gets a bad rap because some of our sister teams are really bad -insert Can't, Buffalo, and Temple here-. But other than that we are competitive. Mark my words NIU will give Columbus U all they can handle.......the MAC taking respect in '06.
ToledoRockets
I was at the game and Toledo controlled the game. This game could have easily been 23-10 Toledo. The Rockets blocked a punt in the 4th quarter and were whistled for a "phantom" 12th man on the field and instead of getting the ball on the ISU 16 yard line, ISU got the ball on Toledo's 30 and scored. Then, two series later, the Rockets had a clear interception, clear as day, even the replay on the jumbotron showed a clear interception and it was ruled an incomplete pass and they scored a couple plays later.Toledo was straight-up better than Iowa State. Even the Iowa State fans sitting around us were commenting on how much bigger and faster we were than they imagined. From what I hear, CMU could have beaten BC but the CMU coach is clearly an idiot and was wayyyy outcoached. I would have to disagree with whomever told you this.I felt CMU was well coached and prepared for the game. They have one of the best coaches in the MAC. I do hate trick plays though and I didn't like what they did at the end, but I think what really would have lost the game for them in the end is the talent on the BC side. What scares me about CMU is their preparation and how hard they play. We had them down last year and they played hard the whole game and came back and burried us. At no time did they panic. That's the sign of a good coach. ZachTheZip
Umm... Miami did not have a good showing against Northwestern. 21-3 is pretty darn bad. They were lucky that the Northwestern QB couldn't throw. I know it was scoreless at half, but given the circumstances surrounding the game, I think they didn't play as well as they thought they would. Only 3 points against the defense that was the worst in the nation last year is pretty bad, especially if that desense has the same guys who were so bad last year. CMU looked like the best MAC team playing last night, until the end, and Toledo should've won. Can't sucks People thought they had a decent chance to knock off Minnesota, but they were on the Phil Steele bandwagon.
Ryno aka Menace
So are you all saying that the MAC isn't that tough? And that we will easily beat Miami?
ZachTheZip
I am saying that the good MAC teams like Toledo and CMU are better this year. Buffalo, Temple, and Can't suck, but they always have. Miami is interesting. They have 5 starters back on offense and only 2 on defense. Their frosh QB plays like he is in high school, but he is new to D-I football. The only reason the score wasn't significantly more in favor of Northwestern is that NU has had such a terrible (R.I.P. Coach Walker) off-season that it took them until the second half of the game to snap out of it. Miami might be better by the time we play them, but we should be able to beat them pretty easily. CMU worries me. We need to win at NC State if we want to be ready for them.

I don't know about being better than Iowa St. Nor do i think we controlled the game. We lost some opportunities and got hosed on a few calls but the problem is that we didn't execute when we needed too the most, such as the possession with 2 min left on their 45 yd line. That was the game there.I'm glad we got ISU's respect. I just hope we get them back next season in our house.

gozips19
just saw the miami nwu game on replay on the u and miami has a long way to go on the offensive side of the ball... their o line looks really small but they are athletic. their qb has talent but is very raw and they will have a hard time showing balance with out murphy. i am sure they will be better when they play akron but i am not as nervous about it
zipboy
I did a covert operation in Can't on Thursday. Defense was horrid. I can see why we liked Jarvis. He was their best player on the field. The new QB is very mobile and is an upgrade from last year. They should be better than last year and may win a couple games. Only 20K for the game. And Minnesota from the vaunted big 10 brought about 500 fans, about the same amount we took to BG last year.
