Buckzip
It's good 4 of 5 are seniors. That way they will be gone after this season.
ZachTheZip
It might be the rain, but they were better than this last year.
fear the brown roo
crouch can't move . good to see they moved the best o-lineman, kemme, to left tackle and put the second best, schepp, on the right tackle. the o-line's mistakes are killing us. you am i
give credit to psu. they are big and fast. they are stuffing the run and they blitz very effectively. these guys deserve their ranking.
Ryno aka Menace
I agree but they have 5 sacks to our ZERO!!!!! That hurts!
RowdyZip
Couldnt have expected a much better result from this game, honestly. our O line will dominate in the MAC. Run defense looked fantastic, secondary was questionable. I'm fine with the offense, a decent weather day wouldve made things a little different. Wish we couldve scored at the end to beat that spread, oh well. Good showing zips, at least we crushed the hopes of those 2nd and 3rd stringers wanting to get in there and play 3 quarters. GO ZIPS! and dont forget.... .Oh, and there wasnt a good showing downtown akron for the "Zips tailgate party" where the sign outside the bar said "OSU tailgate party" and we had to fight with the bartender to get Akron on one of the two big screens. Stated reason? "OSU shows us better support," TALK ABOUT FRUSTRATING!!!!
ZachTheZip
The game would've been much more competitive if our O-line was mentally ready for the game. I hate to blame losses on people, but 5 sacks and 3 early drive-killing penalties make me want to
fear the brown roo
at first i was critical of andy alleman. he had a penalty for roughness that killed a drive. after watching the tape of the game, i have to say, he played one helluva game. very physical and did a nice job going after linebackers. kemme looked pretty good as usual. this was a tough opener for the 0-line and i think things will get better. we won't face a front 7 like this again this year. i don't know if crouch got pulled or had an injury but either way, it didn't hurt us to not have him in there. zippyrifle32
Oh, and there wasnt a good showing downtown akron for the "Zips tailgate party" where the sign outside the bar said "OSU tailgate party" and we had to fight with the bartender to get Akron on one of the two big screens. Stated reason? "OSU shows us better support," TALK ABOUT FRUSTRATING!!!! yeah well screw panini's! i was down there and right as the game is about to start a waitress switches over the tv at my table to the osu game. i had her change it back, but she told me that i just won't be able to listen to it. then i saw the same chick turn the wall pic, but someone (i assume from this board) was showing her the flier that said zips tailgate party. finally, they turned about half of the tv's over, but still in my mind that's a bunch of b.s. to advertise one thing and do another. and i was disappointed in the o-line as well as some of getsey's decisions. zippyrifle32
were you in the green shirt? i was the one against the opposite wall with my teammate, slamming my fists down on the table everytime we f-ed up. on the bright side can't lost what? 44-0? bobbyake
I was in the green sweater sitting at the bar, you probably saw me stumbling to the bathroom to pee. looks like i wasn't the only one giving that young manager hell. I think she turned it up too loud on purpose though, oh well, i didn't mind as long as it was the akron game.
RowdyZip
hahahha. nope, i was the guy in the long sleeved gray akron shirt and zips hat. we were sitting at the island in front of the bigscreen. the waitress actually got nasty with us when we told her we wanted the zips on the bigscreen. Sad part is, i'll probably be there next week too because they get espnu for the game @ ncstate...
bobbyake
I actually liked watching the game there, if we can get them to do that again, I'll go for sure. Let's bring a bigger crowd though. 35 akron fans vs 1 osu fan might not be enough for them to make the Akron game the highlight. so lets bring like
ZachTheZip
Next week there will be no chance of Akron getting on the big screen unless at least 50 Crazy AKron fans show up and threaten everyone who works there. OSU vs. Texas is just too big to compete with. If Panini's doesn't cooperate, everyone should leave and head somewhere else. And swear to the manager to never come back. That might get them to change it. if not then too bad for them. I will be at the Winking Lizard in Fairlawn again next week. Hope to see you there! bobbyake
the winking lizard is too far from all the action. I like to be able to get drunk downtown and then stumble to the bars after.
gozips19
i was down there for the 3rd (had a wedding to attend) and don't worry osu plays at night and akron plays at 12 there is no conflict.. as for the o line they weren't that bad . heard on the radio that crouch was hurt didn't hear what and how bad. allemen played well as did kemee (sp) but willis was over matched against johnson thought johson is a big man! speaking of big dl how about robinson and kiki?!!!!! those two played great and the mac will have a hard time running agianst them.can't wait for nc state! Zipsrifle
Though I won't be able to make the trip to Panini's, it sounds to me like you may be able to get a critical mass started at that place. Money talks, Bull $#!+ walks, and if Akron fans start pumping money into that place, the manager will change their tune. The other option is if enough Zip fans show up, and start chanting "AK-Rowdies" or something to get the place going. I'm sure they would rather have a bunch of happy drunk Akron fans watching the game than a bunch of pissed off drunk Akron fans.
ZipDude
Crouch has always sucked and been overrated. I dont know where the poster thinks that Kemme is the best O lineman but he looked clueless and got beat most of the game. Don't think he would fare too weel on the left side. I did see some very bright looking things in this game however.
Z-P
Damn Dude, welcome back!i'm reading all the comments and sometimes wondering if the posters were watching the same game I was!!!Here are some one liners from my memory and observations.........watched it from Florida and am off to Asia and Europe for the next 20 days, unfortunately.Getsy is really impressive to me. IMHO, he's easily a leader of 5's level, and is easily as good a field general. This is not to dis S/man, just an observation.O-line? No better or no worse than it's been for the past 6 or 7 years. Too many suck ups around here proping average play as the second coming. Alleman cost us big time on the first series.......that hurt. Crouch is, as the Dude says, small. The defense is definately getting stronger. No mention as yet from here on guys, more later when we see what happens in the next few games.I watched LO twice on the sideline at Happy Valley. He was just happy to be there. JD coached "pissed" and I loved it. He was not in aw of the environment. He was pissed the zebras were (as usual) giving the home Big 10 team all the breaks early. Guy's really got nuts in my book................Kennedy is slow and tenative. Hope he "shines"like all of you say he will..........I really do, but he did nothing for me yesterday.Paterno sucks. He's a bitter old man, and I hate to see the media sucking up to that a-hole like they do.We were in that game all the way..............courtesy of Luke and JD's attitudes. It kind of reminded me of the OSU game some 5 or 6 years back..............but for a couple F/ups, we were right the hell there. That's all....................please crank NC State for me.............I'll watch it on the tracker. RACER
how do you call kennedy tenative? he's not the fastest tb ever, but he knocked the penn state defender over on he td run. he can also catch the ball out of the backfeild. he looked good to me. Buckzip
Kennedy isn't weak, but he is a little tentative. He also doesn't have alot of speed. He has the speed of a 230lb back, but not mnot the power. I did like him knocking King on his butt on that TD.
